This blog is a special project to link to resources, news-stories, and actions concerning the current troubles of journalist Mark Steyn, under attack from the Canadian Human Rights Commission, and an Islamic Advocacy group, the Canadian Islamic Council.
Free speech is not optional in a free society.
Freedom is not free.

Please list the email addresses of EVERYONE that deserves to be screamed at: from the Prime Minister to the individual comission members and every publication in Canaduh.
We prefer Canadia, Canuckistan, or just plain Canada.

WTF is this? I am looking for a place to sharpen my spear and I get Tim Horton’s drivel and slop. Apologies to Underway if you had a point but quite frankly I refuse to have anything to do with Tim Hortons. He was a drunk NHLer that self destrucked in a car wreck.
Sad but true.
Um. Perhaps you need an extra-large black from Tim’s, friend.

While appalled, one cannot think of one better to give these miscreants a sound drubbing than the inestimable Mr. Steyn. Bombs away!
Yes– but even stalwarts appreciate support and a cheering section.

I would add another action item : call the newsdesks and the editorial desks. Inundate them with calls. I, myself , called and learned ( not surprisingly ) that neither The Vancouver Sun nor The Province were aware of this BC matter ( more a question of sheer incompetence than ideological bias … though the latter is there, I’m sure ). Make the point that not only is this newsworthy in and of itself but it also involves fundamental issues of freedom of expression, freedom of the press , etc. Put some ” hustle behind the muscle.” The calls are easy to make. Go to the publication’s website and look at the ” Contact Us ” page. The numbers and contact persons are right there.
Parenthetically, the media’s absence on this story is worthy of media interest itself. A truly shameful performance by the Fifth Estate.
You make excellent points: citizen activism just means taking 1/2 an hour now and again. Remember the Law of Multiplication: every editor or elected official assumes that for every 1 person speaking out, 100 others feel the same way. 40-50 people means 4000-5000 others. Be that busy 1%, and don’t let the media’s timidity about militant Islam or conservativism be an excuse.

I didn’t see any link to the Maclean’s subscriptions page which would be a real help for us impulse shoppers.
Now posted far and wide: good catch!

Forgive me for one small quibble: The quote about neutrality isn’t Dante. That was JFK misquoting him. http://www.bartleby.com/73/1211.html
But a small liberty with the translation there gives “even Hell itself would not receive them for fear the damned might glory over them.”
Other than that, I’m with Steyn and you 100%.
Saith Binks: You have offended me– don’t make me go all CHRC show-trial on you!
