~ PASS IT ON– Part of pastoring is mentoring: handing on and lifting up others in faith, skills, abilities, understanding & knowledge, and confidence. I’ve mentored lots of folks, and been honoured with their trust and watching them grow in lots of ways, often zooming past my little store of ideas or skills before long, since a true teacher’s role is to make themselves superfluous, having handed on good and true things to others. A one-man band may be impressive, but an orchestra built up and guided and taught by one person so that each knows their role, and could also lead the others– much more lasting and powerful.
The scary word ‘tradition’ properly means just that: ‘traditio‘ or hand on to others. It’s not yours to keep: the riches of past struggles, questions, puzzles, essential questions is the distilled and purified gold of past generations of human toil and wisdom. It is a par of adolescence to put all that up to question– it is a sign of maturity to take on what is handed on, and find the good and the gold in it, and to pass it on to future people. In the Church, tradition is further understood to be the Holy Spirit alive in the debates and outworking of the church in time, warning against error, pitfalls, dead ends, and human sin and stupidity.

~ IS THAT IT? IS THIS LITTLE MAN with his smelly little orthodoxies truly the fulfilment of the hopes and dreams of the Civil Rights Era?
$600 000 000.00 Campaign, and a $150 000 000.00 Inaugural: $750M– almost a bailout-worth. Now with the Kobe steaks and luxury life.
Week One: dead babies? Pander to terror? Muzzle critics? Loot for cronies? The Obama power-grab is, of course, aimed at perpetuating Democratic power in perpetuity. That the naked lust for power, and ideology over truth or bipartisanship would be exposed so swiftly is the one remarkable new thing. No delay, decency, or doubt. We are right. America is ours. Submit now, and beat the rush. Or, Beat The Rush, as the case may be.
He’s allowed to do good things and get credit for it, of course, but thusfar he’s done nothing truly good, or which would change the underlying bent nature he brings to the job. I’m happy othr people keep trying to wish him the best, but that says more about them, than him. The giant ingrown ego can only disguise itself, never hide nor fail to show itself forth in the overweening recklessness and pride which is Obama’s modus operandi. “Yes, I’m That Good.” Admiring himself? Intoxicating!

Evil Incarnate?
~ FLUSH RUSH? I was a Dittohead early on, but not kept up lately until the recent Obama declaration of unperson against conservative media-star Rush Limbaugh. Bombast? Yup. Drug issue? Whatever. Fact-checker and hilarious idol-shover extraordinaire? Oh yeah.
Remember the Binky-dictum: Progressive Utopianism is a substitute religion. Since humans are worshipping creatures, if not God, then we will put our ultimate hope and trust in something else– usually, in the Untied States, whatever the Demoncratic Party is currently selling as the latest cure-all. When the Party leaders switch to another panacea, watch the eyes glaze momentarily as the former cure-all goes out the window, and the new cure-all goes on the pedestal for devotion and vicious defence at all costs. It’s like trying to keep track of the latest contenders for the throne of the Byzantine Empire, back in the day.
