~ HE’S KNOWN FOR a tremendous sense of humour, but movie & TV actor/ comedian Patrick McKenna had not much to smile about for much of his life as a person with ADHD and dyslexia. Like him, I was tested in Junior High for ‘Mild Retardation’ (as he says, a real confidence-booster), but tested for high IQ. Unfortunately, there was no name for math-dyslexia back then (discalculia), so lots of Summer School ensued… sigh.

He used his problems to become very good at memorizing, improvising, comedy, working four times harder than everybody else– he also found Second City in Toronto, and people like Mike Myers, Martin Short, John Candy, and so many others who went on to comedy glory. He starred in Traders, and as the nerd Harold in The Red Green Show– and despite having had people tell him he’d never amount to much, he went on to be the only double-Gemini winner (on the same night in 1998) for Comedy and Drama. Since then, it’s Stargate SG1 to The Mercer Report, voice-acting, and feature films.

Make It Betterer

He and fellow-ADHD comedian Rick Green (of many and various shows) worked on the award winning Canadian documentary “http://totallyadd.com/?!”

He and Rick have been working hard across the country– in a time of school cutbacks and not a lot of resources for learning disabled kids– to speak out for youth and adults with various learning problems.

So What, Then?

The eldest Binkling inherited his math-dyslexia from his parents.. but this year got honours and an 89 in math. Right now, the Former Eastern Bloc nations are full of former soldiers, torturers & interrogators, spies & informants, betrayers and neighbourhood snitches, Gulag guards, all of it. Right now, American government offices have people willing to break all kinds of laws, betray their own citizenship, do political dirty work, mistreat other Americans for their religious or political or societal views– especially the ones who are trying to live as principled Americans– and who, if questioned, refuse to own up, repent, or apologize.. like cuddly old neighbour Michael Karkoc, they were “just following orders.”

Behold love gone mad, willing to do anything and everything to follow false goals, dreams, to wreck what is in service of what can never be. No amount of blood or sorrow or suffering by the victims of such evil need be of concern– utopia is just ahead!

No Limits, No Laws

Please understand: there is literally nothing that utopians will not say, will not do, will not sacrifice to The Cause. Those free people of the West who love freedom must not be so naive as to keep being surprised by what the EU-weenies in Brussels will say; what Obama and Soros and all their minions will say and do; the 20th century of totalitarianism has illustrated just what glorious leaders and their minions will do– only this time, it’s coming to Europe, and to North America.. in softer forms, but all the more deadly and all-pervading for that.

Seriously– Stalin or Hitler or Mao or Pol Pot could only hope for the kind of power the NSA-Europe cyber establishment now wields over the world. It’s planetary-scale eyeballing.

Wake The F*ck Up

We keep getting surprised, outraged, and puzzled by such stiff-necked and cheerful lawlessness.. but, like the Shariac Jihadi who obeys a higher law than stupid old infidel rules, the radical Utopian cheerfully goes his own way, and will not stop though exposed, confronted, and caught out in the most egregious crimes and misdemeanors and cheerful wickedness.

They prefer not to be caught, but they won’t stop because they are caught doing bad things. Apply, lather, rinse, repeat.

Behind First Principles

~ ITEM: Great Commandment

~ WHENCE COMES law? Morality? Society? All of it?

David Mamet is mostly right as far as he takes it in his conversion-book The Secret Knowledge– it all predates government, or nanny-state, or law courts. Much of the wisdom law of nature and human interaction is handed on after ages-long trial and error; antiquity is at least one test of such things. Yet ancient laws may prove unjust; by what standard?

On These Two Laws

For the Jews, and their Christian cousins, law is of God– both the inward moral law of conscience, and the revealed law of the Ten Commandments, and the completion of the law in Jesus Christ. Thus:

Master, which is the great commandment in the law?” Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

That is, the law is inwardly written, and comes outwardly: moral education is precisely forming a conscience in due order with goodness and truth. Yet the three-year-old self asks “Where does all that come from?”

Ultimately, it is part of what it means for us to be made in the iamge & likeness of God– in terms of our reason, and will, and love. God is not another being in the universe– he is Being itself; he is not alive– he is Life itself. God is not good: he is goodness itself.

The Forgetters

This is what TechTopians & Jihadis forget– God is alive, free, untrapped within either “The Historical Process” or “The Sharia Forever”. This is what we all forget– that the source of all things is God; that the good things are grounded in him, and al lhe has given mankind over many ages; that the tried, tested, and true things are not granted and preserved by almighty intrusive government, nor by sword and blood-sacrifice unto Allah.

It’s what Westminster, the mother of Parliaments is forgetting by legislating impossible things like pseudogamous same-sex “marriage”; it’s what the surveillance state is forgetting in imagining that perfect slavery is the best freedom.

God. Like Aslan, he is free; like Gandalf, he is the most dangerous thing imaginable; like both, he is good, and true, and beautiful, and we have once choice in this life that really matters forever. ~

The Reality Of D-Day

~ IN THE HARROWING first 20 minutes of Saving Private Ryan, we see what the young men of the Allied Landing Forces had to go through to get onto the beaches. Thing is, new studies over the past few years (and the records of the time) reveal that Hitler’s “Atlantic Wall” was not the beach, but included carefully constructed, hidden and interlocked bunkers, tunnels, trenches, artillery, overlapping fields of fire, communications, and other sneaky works up to 5 and even 10 miles deep in some places.

Thus, the Battle For Normandy was much longer and more bloody than anyone on the Allied side had expected or planned for; casualties and troop-losses were very much higher; and unlike the static defences such as The Siegfried Line, or the various German defensive lines across Italy in that theatre of war, this was a deep defense.

Thank Heavens

There are three things to be thankful for, in looking backward on what could have been a great defeat for the Allies: (1) Hitler essentially took direct control of the Battle For France; (2) he forbade retreat even to establish a stronger defense, reform units, or save troops or equipment for another day; (3) the Germans had developed nothing like the Allied artillery techniques, which allowed mass-concentrations of artillery over a huge area, when and as needed. In many cases, according to Canadian author and WW2 forward artillery observer George Blackburn, it was only the artillery that saved the day on many occasions, when the weaker Allied tanks were wrecked, troops exhausted, and the Germans fanatically reforming for another counter-assault.

For your freedom, and theirs, and all future generations. Let us not forget, cast away, or carelessly drop their costly gift for us, won against such unknown and overwhelming odds. ~
