“We must never cease to proclaim in fearless tones the great principles of freedom and the rights of man which are the joint inheritance of the English-speaking world and which through Magna Carta, the Bill of Rights, the Habeas Corpus, trial by jury, and the English common law find their most famous expression in the American Declaration of Independence.”

“Far better for a government to abolish those commissions, and take those budgets and invest them in civics programs — teaching Canadians, especially new immigrants, about the most precious and valuable human rights around, the ones we have inherited from 800 years of tradition in the free west. It is not a coincidence that the two recent complaints against free speech were filed by radical Muslim immigrants from Egypt and Pakistan. Basic civics classes — not partisan political indoctrination, but a basic primer in the rule of law; fundamental freedoms; the equality of men and women; non-violent solutions to problems, etc.
“A week ago, I would have thought that this last option would have been politically impossible. But, given the overwhelming support I have received from the general public — and the positive reception from even liberal and many left-wing commenters — I think that an abolition of the commissions and their tribunals would be well-received.

I don’t fully understand the characterization of Law Is Cool (sic) as a “law school blog and podcast from Canada.” Their About page says, “If you are a first year law student in Canada, feel free to contact us about joining the team,” and, “Note: This site is student-run….” It’s lovely that Omar Ha-Redeye “decid[ed] to pursue a law degree at the University of Western Ontario,” but what’s his interest in “Leaving The Law Meetups”? Moreover, he seems to be in the United States rather than in Canada. Ha-Redeye remains so intimately involved and so prominently featured at Law Is Cool (sic) that their self-description seems to have become quite misleading. God only knows what commission one must face for raising such simple issues.
G_D knows, none of that is what strikes me the most.
I look at the authors and I see names whose background appears to be Catholic: Italian (Di Lullo), French (Simard), Spanish (Geronimo) and Irish (Kennedy); Jewish: Ashkenazi (Kaufman, Kleiman, Dimson) and Sephardic (Ha-Redeye); Protestant – Unknown (Saddington, Winfield, Evans, Wisdom); Muslim (Ahmed); and Hindu (Baid).
It looks like a ecumenical conference here or something. Or maybe an inclusive vision of Canada that many of the criticizers here on this site have never achieved.
After reading the post on your site Kralizec, this individual doesn’t seem to be involved in the case at all. And due to their “pseudonymity” (sic), most of the posts are under a general name making further discretion difficult. But they do seem to be pretty clear about who is behind the Steyn case, and you seem to be barking up the wrong tree.
Anyhow, my two cents before I’m off…
You don’t need God to see that the unsubstantiated claims on “Kralizek’s” site easily constitute libel, and s/he would have to prove otherwise. And Binkie boy, linking to the complainants’ place of work is a big no-no. Didn’t someone already warned you about that? Hey, now Kinsella is in the mix for a potential libel case too, (he’s a lawyer too by the way).
All lawyers do talk to each other, by the way, and nefariously scheme how to make money of other people’s stupidity and stupid websites. But it is a conspiracy theory, as you’ve stated, isn’t it?
Considering the repeated warnings, you would think someone would wise up. Internet cases will have continuing standing, and considering that no effort was made to remove personal identifiers, there’s no limitation period (as long as it remains on the site). Meaning well after all of this has blown over and nobody cares about your sorry ass, you can still get strung out.
Ho ho ho…
St. Nick is not happy about this. Some elves, I tell you…
