It’s painful for me to write this. But I am NOT asking for pity. I want action, and I want it soon.

First, who am I? An independent Canadian science journalist and longtime columnist for ChristianWeek. My first book, Faith@Science: Why science needs faith in the 21st century (Winnipeg: J. Gordon Shillingford, 2001) was largely a collection of my columns.

Last week I offered to quit my decade-long column at ChristianWeek. Why?

Even though (or because) this very tail-end-of-the-Boomers WebElf grew up in the 60s, and saw the drug – music – bloviating – infantile behaviour up close — it all seemed perplexing and repellent at the time. However, Fahrenheit 451 did leave one lasting and imteresting image: of the Fire Men, whose task is to burn books, not put out fires.

Mark Steyn: “[Mohammed Elmasry] .. has got himself four sock-puppets from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto that he puts up on the TV shows and the radio-shows and all the rest of it: and in fact, they’re not the complainants.

“This case goes to trial in British Columbia in June, and subsequently at the Federal Human Rights Commission; and in both cases Dr. Elmasry is the complainant; and these four, you know, fresh-faced, very charming, personable, attractive Osgoode Hall Law students have nothing to do with it.
