Wallace’s words to live by:
Dico Tibi Verum, Libertas Optima Rerum:
Nunquam Servili Sub Nexu Vivito, Fili
Translation: My Son, Freedom is best, I tell thee true, of all things to be won. Then never live within the Bond of Slavery.
A Man’s A Man For All That
Forget Mel Gibson. The real William Wallace was a lowlander ;”Pro libertate” – “FOR FREEDOM” his family motto; raised in a castle; a 6’7″ giant; a devout Christian; principled and well-educated; didn’t wear a kilt; never painted any of his body parts blue with woad. But he loved his people, and the principle of freedom, and he was illegally drawn and quartered. Longshanks of England wanted plunder and dominions and subjected peoples– Wallace and then Robert Bruce let him and his son know it wasn’t free for the taking.
As far as we can tell, Mark Steyn is not Scottish (Dutch?). However, by the power vested in me as the son and Grandson of Scots, I do declare him an honourary Scotsman for his love of freedom, and also heretofore as a full-blooded webelf, with all the rights, freedoms, responsibilities, duties, appurtenances, and saucy attitudes thereunto appertaining.
Because Mark loves his people, and he loves freedom. And as he stands up before a foolish and totalitarian process today, he truly has a brave heart.
To the scoundrels, lackeys, minions, and slaves of an enslaving mindset– no matter what you think or do or try through these underhanded means, you are not worthy of him, or us.
Scots, Wha Hae.
Scots, wha hae wi’ Wallace bled,
Scots, wham Bruce has aften led,
Welcome to your gory bed
Or to victorie!
Now’s the day, and now’s the hour:
See the front o’ battle lour,
See approach proud Edward’s power –
Chains and slaverie!
Wha will be a traitor knave?
Wha will fill a coward’s grave?
Wha sae base as be a slave? –
Let him turn, and flee!
Wha for Scotland’s King and Law
Freedom’s sword will strongly draw,
Freeman stand or freeman fa’,
Let him follow me!
By oppression’s woes and pains,
By your sons in servile chains,
We will drain our dearest veins
But they shall be free!
Lay the proud usurpers low!
Tyrants fall in every foe!
Liberty’s in every blow!
Let us do or dee!
