Well, they started it. The Elmo Team, With SockPuppets, seeking to muzzle Steyn. And I’ve always been of the principle that you may not have started the mess, but if it’s on your watch, you should try and clean it up.

Get Your Tribe On

If you want my tribal bona fides, I’m– in part– from a sub-sept of the Clan Cameron of Locheil. We fought FOR Bonny Prince Charlie, though not from great persuasion. Otherwise, our clan was always described as “Fiercer then fierceness itself.” Our motto? In modern parlance “You’re Dog-Meat, Pal!”, or “Sons of the Hounds, Come Here and Get Flesh!” But that’s not all.

You see, according to others, and according to modern tribalism, I’m of the male, Christian, conservative and socially conservative tribes. According to the 7th century tribal religion of Islam, I’m a Kaffir, sub-human infidel deserving only of death if I don’t convert.

Sadly, it’s the emerging modern political tribalism of the West that is the most scary. We’ve gone from an assumption of the essential humanity of all people (a classical liberal position) to the neo-fascist us-them tribalism we see on the part of Enviros, Obamaniacs, PETAphiles, Lawyerists, Bureaucracites, Fembots, Various colours of racists, HRCites, Same-Sexists, the Rich Tribe– you name it. Your worth, your humanity, your deserving a hearing or of respect or being accorded the basic dignity of humanity is not predicated on if you’re the right tribe(s). This is not a progression, but it is the fruit of political correctness, and the emphasis on group versus the whole. Our Canadian Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms (1982) has had the same effect: the squeakiest wheels get more rights, more humanity, more laws to protect and uphold the claims of their tribe. The tyranny of lawyered-up minorities. All is politics, division, the exalting of one at the debasing and criminalizing of the other.

What, you ask? Iran & nukes. Syria, almost-nukes, now buddies with Russian adventurism; Russian adventurism; Venezuela cuddling with fascists and terrorists AND adventurous Russians; China cuddling with Jihadists (not at home, however); a nuke-ready Pakistan up for grabs; EUSSR cowardice in the face of Jihadism and home-grown Islamism; the plunging birth-rates in much of the first world.

It all makes sense, if you’re a Utopian, who thinks that Really Super-Neat Things™ are just around the corner, and all that stands between it and us is [current obstacle/ person here]. It’s like kids standing out front of a giant carnival, but being prevented from entering. Hence the ‘anything goes tantrum of the American Left. Utopia Lost. Palin is spoiling our heaven-on-earth happy!

It’s hard for liberals, in their endless War Against Reality. They’ve got the magic happy-plan, and all they need is to get us all lined up and taking part, like good utopian minions.
