~ SMART, GOOD People can differ on various topics reasonably, in a civil society. It’s our right; and also our duty to respect differences of opinion, and the freedom of others. That’s the reason why speech-codes or government-regulated speech is ridiculous, too– you can’t legislate truth, or lies, with the rubber-stamp of official approval, polls, or group-thinkery.

However, within the current ObaMessiah era, there have been some high-profile swoons for Obama, including Christopher Buckley— son of the founder of National Review; and in Canada, Jonathan Kay of the National Post, and a lower-level swoon by blogger Damian Penny. Buckley famously got jetsamed* from NR; Penny got a mild spanking from Mrs. Arnie of Toronto. Not sure about whether anybody has torn off Kay’s epaulets, or broken his sword over their knee.

The thing is: the ever-rising pile of manure surrounding Obama cannot be swept aside or ignored, except by hard-core ideologues, or denialists. And even if he’s a politics-as-usual liberal Republican, John McCain is not a friend to or sympathizer with black racists, terrorists, Islamists, Kenyan tyrants, radical Palestinians, sleazy bankers, organized vote-stealers, Marxists, the Chicago political mafia. The facts are all out there. And who can trust someone who allows people to make messianic art and claims in his name?
