~ ASIDE FROM THE DARK FUN of letting Perfessor Dr. John Miller repeatedly beclownify himself on teh intertoobs via his blogsite and comments on other blogsites, the real questions still remain.

(1) Clearly, for some in the legacy media & chattering classes, the intertoobs are an irritant, and an illegitimate contribution to the task of journaling events, history, and opinion. Journalism™ is a holy priesthood, guarded by the gatekeepers in Journalism™ school, behind editor’s desks, to those who take on the proper mindset as to the dignity and suitable progressivist bias appertaining unto the true disciples of holy Journalism™.

(2) That new media is taking over from old media– that I can watch Pajamas Media TV, Pat Condell or Mark Steyn on YouTube, read fresh-to-the-moment comment on the American scene, MidEast politics, or Canadian issues– then fact-check that myself and then write about it on a blog as a citizen-journalist– it’s just not authorized. That ‘proper’ journalists and academics with loads of learning also ‘slum it’ in the blogosphere with the weenies and foaming-mouth types, instead of hanging with their peers– well, we all have dirty secrets and bad habits.

Sixty years ago today, in the terrifying event known as Kristallnacht, over one thousand synagogues were torched in Germany and Austria. In the course of the Goebbels-instigated pogrom, the glass planes of Jewish-owned business were smashed (the Jewish community subsequently billed for the damages), and the first deportations of European Jews to concentration and labour camps began. Understandably, as a result, Kristallnacht has often wrongly been identified as the beginning of the end of European Jewry.

In fact, by the time Kristallnacht had taken place, the fate of the Jews had already been sealed.

A couple of weeks ago, Scott Gilbreath and I attended the Halifax Symposium. Professor John Miller was one of the presenters. His animus towards bloggers, Ezra Levant, Mark Steyn and their so-called minions was evident there, and has continued to unfold since the event.

Currently, Dr. Miller is denying reality, as in the existence of the Ayatollah Khomeini’s Blue Green Book of Shi’ite Ettiquette for All Occasions. This appears to be the final collapse of the modern mind into willful illogic, when it encounters disagreeable or indigestible facts: ‘You only say that because you’re Mark Steyn’, or even ‘You can’t tell ME what to think!’ Season with ‘so there!’ and ‘nyah, nyah!’ to taste.

As Mr. Gilbreath points out, we’ve moved from the realm of opinion into the realm of facts: the widely attested Blue Book by Khomeini either exists or doesn’t: it is a telling but sad sign if Dr. Miller– as an all-powerful journalism prof– imagines he can change facts simply by refusing to believe them. Or that he holds with the ugly little creed that whatever people whom He Really Doesn’t Like may happen to say, it’s automatically untrue, because he doesn’t like them or their so-called facts. He’s wise to the Conspiracy™, dontcha know.

WITH YOUR INDULGENCE, I’d like to introduce you to a friend you’ve never met and probably didn’t even know you had. Grenville Gordon Stanley (more details here). His friends and family called him “Gren”– feel free.. for he’s your friend, and he also gave you a gift.

Gren was an out-going, funny, and warm-hearted young man, a Christian planning to study for the Anglican ministry. He was much-loved by his sisters and brother, and his parents  Frederick Malvin Stanley and Susan Jane Stanley, in his home town of Saint John, New Brunswick, on the West side. Details vary on whether he had a fiancée or not, but it wouldn’t surprise those who knew him to suppose he had.

~ EX-CANDIDATE John McCain knew how to bring it to the Viet Cong enemy; he later showed heroic courage in resisting torture and soul-breaking suffering. However, he did not know how to bring it to Obama & Joey Plugs, 30+ years later. How to take him on, hit at his weak spots and neutralize his strong points, and bring about some passion and voter-excitement. He was too nice.

We’re not talking about mud-slinging, or dirt-digging, or rumour-mongering: but the capacity to stand and fight for crucial ideas and principles in a time of decision. It was his job: mission not accomplished, John. It’s politics, not a pillow-fight: act like important stuff is at stake.
