An Happy & An Merry!

Unto us a Son is given

“The Sistine Madonna” by Raphael, circa 1512-1514

Is this an angel captured on camera?

Is this a photo of an angel?

  1. I’m sorry but all I can see is a lens reflection of the overhead florescent lights. It doesn’t even look like an angel. Besides since when do real angels have wings and why would they need them?

    Dear Wz:

    (1) According to the Bible, Christian history, and even recent witness, angels can take on human form as needed.

    (2) Angels are disembodied intelligence, and don’t need wings– however, the wings signify the speed of thought with which they obey God’s purposes, and aid his beloved sons and daughters. Whether they ‘display wings’ as a form of embodied shorthand to make it clear what they are from time to time would be up to them, I suppose.

    (3) Christian faith doesn’t rise or fall on this one story or picture of something or other… however, we can’t dismiss all possible signs or miracles because– say, in this case, the angel didn’t pose and say ‘Cheese!’

    (4) I’ve heard angels, and sensed their presence.. can’t say I’ve seen one.. yet.
