Lord Devon, who had his wedding licence revoked after refusing to allow single sex unions at Powderham Castle, will be auctioning a book written by his ancestor Sir William Waller 300 years ago.
Sir William was a commander-in-chief of Parliament forces in the Westcountry during the Civil war and wrote the book defending his decision to turn against the monarch while he was in prison for his actions.
The book is expected to make 15,000 when it goes under the hammer at Sotherbys on July 14.
