MY NAME IS Binks Webelf, and I’m a fairly big guy (for my generation, at least). Actual big bones (the above is me at 2 1/2), 6′ in socks, shoulders as wide as a doorway– if I were anorexic weight, I’d still be about 175 pounds. Behind the current fat-‘shaming’ and lunatic ‘body acceptance’ controversy, there is an actual health crisis afoot, which social media could cover, Mr. Crowder, and save a lot of lives: the sugar-powered metabolism, leading to metabolic syndrome. Remember low-fat ‘The Balanced Diet’ idea? Much smart, so science, very brain! Wow!!
Idiot food-scientists in the past century thought people were like machines– what you put in, you get out. Thus, dietary fat became evil: less is good. Eating fatty food makes you a blob, they believed. Bad consequences ensue.
Their new rules (which I grew up with)? Fewer eggs, less butter, diet everything, artificial sweetners, only occasional bacon, no cheese or anything like it– and lots of that that horrible inedible skim milk blue water of starvation & death. Bleagh.
Reality check versus Science Men– that’s not how humans actually work: your body & cells burn fat, and parts of your body (brain, nerve-sheaths, cell-structures) are literally composed of certain kinds of fats. Ooops. Reality 1, Stupid Science Man 0.
What actually happens if you severely restrict fats, or else eat a junk-fat carb-sugar-soft-drink loaded diet? Disaster is what.
ALERT! Body Red Alert!
The body will consume whatever fuel it gets. It needs a mix of fats, veg, fruits, some carbs and the like, but can run (badly) on carbs (bread, carbs, SUGAR). In this case, the body literally starves for fat, since it’s running mostly on sugar. Fat? What fat? I got none, says the metabolism,– so the fat goes into emergency storage. Really.
Mostly running on sugar? You must be starving to have so little fat in your furnace! Then your system hits the “Store ALL The Fats!” alarm, and so you find a carb+sugar fueled person sometimes not necessarily eating very much, but their body is on red alert, and storing fats like mad. Fatter, and fatter, and fatter. Horribly ironic, no?
Lotsa False Cures
Mocking the fat is the one still-permissible cruelty in 2016. You can see in the flesh what you rightly or wrongly imagine to be that person’s sins: gluttony, greed, sloth. Bad fatty!
The usual slings & arrows? EAT LESS, YOU PIG! Or, TAKE A WALK, LARD BUTT! Eat less! Exercise more! Diet, you slob! Feel better?
Except, even when sugar-fueled people do this, they lose weight super-slowly, and what little dietary fat they have gets burnt up, leading to.. you guessed it.. another “Store ALL The Fats!” alarm. Metabolism slows even more; the body even starts to burn its own muscle., since it is starving of fat. Vicious “Store ALL The Fats!” circle speeds up.
That’s when the fats turn into super-fats (triglycerides) and start getting glued into the liver (a form of inflammatory hepatitis), into arteries and, around the organs, and serious health problems & metabolic syndrome kicks in. The body can become almost resistant to insulin, because there’s so much sugar– and insulin around trying to control it– the cycle is out of control– type 2 diabetes ensues.
The Actual Cure
Cure? NOT to eat less, starvation diet, or all the usual very profitable DietInc. nonsense. The diet industry only wants you fat, and eternally trying to lose wight (and, ironically, starvation/ see-saw dieting can also ruin your health).
Read this book (and here’s the website)*, but moderate the suggested diet a little, because even cavepersons ate some carbs–roots, nuts, and the like– just as current stone-age people still do in 2016.
Do a low(er) carb/ higher fat/ veg semi paleo-style diet. After the fat alarms switch off, the body re-adjusts to burning fat instead of sugar-fuels, and consuming food– instead of hoarding fat and burning sugar– in real-time. Eat as much as your body needs– snack often, gorge less. Ditch all soda-pop, diet or super-saturated sugar. Both are toxic, in different ways.
You’ll feel hungry a lot more, and you’ll need to snack. You’ll start gradually losing weight, as the body no longer thinks it is starving to death from lack of life-giving fats. Combined with moderate exercise and enough food to fuel your activity, all of a sudden your body is operating as it should. Suddenly, EVERYTHING changes. Brain, energy, weight, eyesight, taste buds, recovery for exercise or injury.
Craving sugars? We’re all sugar addicts these days– have some fresh fruit instead. Mind you, this will also require some will-power, resolve, and self-discipline. Simply having the answer to a problem doesn’t solve the problem itself.
Learn up, and pass that on, and much of the politics of fat vs. thin will simply vanish. Yer welcome. ~

What military disaster could so shake Rome?
After all, The deadliest military machine in the ancient world was the Roman legion. Armor & shield, gladius sword, bow, spear, giant catapults and crossbows, simple tactics– when it was ready to fight, it was like one great beast, inexorable, sometimes winning against odds of ten to one, or more.

Everything Old Is New Again
We are like the Romans: proud, powerful, dangerous. Modern political Islam is like the Germanic warriors: fighting their war in their way, not ours. It’s like boxing with fog, or nailing down Jell-O.

Where We Actually Are
Truth be told, our huge force-against-force olden-style 1800s or 1900s warfare just doesn’t work very well when the other team refuses to show up, and won’t play by the old or accepted rules.. and when they vanish like morning dew if you try to force the matter. We’re still armed and organized to fight WW2, or the long-feared 1980s Soviet attack on Western Europe. That’s why terrorism is so very effective in 2016: our states actually need other states to fight with.. not an alphabet soup of terror-groups.
The front is everywhere possible and imaginable: nobody is safe, and all those radicalized mosques, and Muslim ghettos in our major cities are recruiting grounds and potentially hostile occupied territory, war-wise. Mass migration? Another facet of 4th gen warfare! Thus, the Euro-elite “Migrant Problem” is a self-imposed war, with collaborating leaders effectively attacking their own people.
Likewise the Islamofascist terrorism of all kinds, boundless cruelty, supreme confidence versus our cowardice and cringing. See? Atypical warfare, 2016-style– and we imported this: why do we continue to do so?

Love them or hate them, their no-nonsense light rapid response, strict airline security, layered internal protection (including that infamous but fairly successful anti-bombing wall) are all defences against 4th generation warfare. It`s not perfect, but there is no perfect defence against guerrilla warfare.

Should Canada keep dropping bombs & fighting in Afghanistan? No. Afghanistan is quickly reverting to what it was– a failed state ripe for terror, with mostly tribal law & order.
Likewise, our “helping” in the U.S. wrecking Syria in the puppet-theatre of American conquest for power and oil– sorry, ‘Arab Spring’– wasn’t stopping, preventing, or stopping DAESH/ ISIL/ ISIS, or local Viet Cong-type attacks. This is Jihad, and the end game our enslavement under Sharia Law: the whole thing, big-time. The Russians get it: the best answer on the terrorist’s own ground is not apologies or hand-wringing or submission, but BOOM.

The To-Do List Is Long
This is a religious terror war exploding all around us, and we’re currently caught like General Varus, or like the Americans in bombers and tanks eternally attacking phantoms in the Vietnamese jungles. Or Somalia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria…
We need to Israel-up: walls, strict serious airport & airline security; everybody trained and willing & ready to fight; prison, deportation, de-gehettoization; subvert the subversion; use special ops and counter-infiltration, and especially of mosques and false-front groups. Local vigilance, and reportage; preparation for treachery from our own side. Protect our leaders and government locations– i.e., war everywhere, against everyone.
We need to harden ALL our critical infrastructure, and imagine (within reason) All The Things which are potential targets: internet & hackable infrastructure, the power grid, communications, military site, energy, water & food supplies, industry, transportation, statiums and large gathering places, all of it. In America and elsewhere, Muslim groups have already been nosing around water supplies and crucial power grid components directly, and via cyber-attacks. Halt all Muslim migration until we have a way to sort them out. Be willing to imprison potential terrorists.
We have a great deal to (re)learn, and a lot of blood and misery and mistakes ahead of us. Civilians will have to understand that they are the front-line, along with police and military and trained professionals. This war is not going to end quickly– and it is a war. There will be casualties, no matter how ready or prepared we are– and right now, we’re not very.
The Doom Is Strong
The alternative is not The Same Old Just Like Before, but ending up like Publius Quinctilius Varus and the lost legions of Rome– and like Augustus, wondering how and what had happened. Within 4 centuries, the barbarians were banging on the doors of Rome herself, as the Empire decomposed and fell into ever smaller pieces.
Us? We don’t have anything like that long, because they are already here, and more pouring in every day. The alarm clock is ringing: time to awaken from our pleasant dreams.

~ IT VERY MUCH APPEARS that the Belgian airport bombers wanted radioactive material for a dirty bomb, or even (possibly) to cause a Chernobyl-style meltdown at a Belgian reactor complex only an hour’s drive South-East from Brussels.
Observant officials got suspicious, so the terrorists scattered, and ran with the airport plan, but it also looks like they had inside help at the nuclear plant. Police found the surveillance video of the nuclear plant on a raid of one of the terrorist’s flats.
Just For Example
It wouldn’t take much for terrorists to wreak untold havoc, say, in London – with just basic explosives and some nuclear waste. Such is the gruesome reality of the dirty bomb. It’s a non-nuclear bomb which invisibly spreads deadly radioactive particles over everything nearby, via wind and explosive forces. Says the BBC:
“It would wreak panic in built-up areas, see large areas contaminated and closed off and result in long-term illnesses such as cancer, caused by the dispersed radioactive material attacking living cells.”
Cancer and radiation poisoning are the longer-term (days and months) effects– shorter term, utter panic & chaos, people fleeing the region, refugee problems, looting, opportunistic violence and Jihad, overwhelmed emergency and medical services, local martial law, and contaminated parts of the city cordoned off for months, even years, until remediation and reconstruction could take place.
Multiply By.. 1000?
Of course, setting off an entire reactor into a nuclear melt down is a horror and disaster of Biblical proportions. Whole regions, thousands of square miles, could become unlivable, and radioactively quarantined for decades, like Chernobyl, or the exclusion zone around Fukushima. The wind currents of the atmosphere carry the fallout from there, all over the local regions, then around the world.
What A Meltdown Looks Like
Just how many opportunities exist for such demonic mass-slaughter schemes by radicalized terrorists, for either dirty bombs or melt-downs? Wait for it.
There are 61 commercially operating nuclear power plants with 99 nuclear reactors in 30 states in the United States. Thirty-five of these plants have two or more reactors.
And many many many more all around the industrial world. Even worse, the internets is still innocently, carelessly, and naïvely full of immense amounts of potentially dangerous and revealing information about many such matters. I won’t link to any of it, but it’s all out there for the evil-minded and malevolent web-surfer.
And no, dear authorities, I’m not a terrorist. I’m trying to be one of the good guys in this war, mmmkay?
Time To Wake Up
In a mostly peaceful, old-fashioned warfare world, you can have nuclear plants for power generation all over the place, because the battlefront is usually far away. This is no longer that world. Welcome to the skin-crawlingly unpredictable world of asymmetrical guerrilla warfare, where no matter how evil or murderous or unthinkable your plan, you’ll do it for ‘the cause’.
Even this. And something nuclear-related almost took place in Belgium just last week, only if the authorities been less vigilant.

Let’s write to our elected officials, local and regional governments, and make sure that all our reactors around the world– big, small, research/ university, whatever– are all properly manned, supervised, securely protected, and kept safe from inside or exterior ideological threats, given just how horrible the alternative could be.

Heartbreaking Word From Pakistan

Past Persecution– On March 15 of 2015, two Taliban suicide bombers likewise blew themselves up in Pakistan at the entrance to two Christian churches in Lahore, causing 17 deaths and wounding 80 more. In September 2013, two explosions at the All Saint’s Church in Peshawar killed 127 people and injured more than 250, and an attack on a Peshawar school in December 2014 killed 150 people, mostly students.
Jesus says:
“You have heard that it was said, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR and hate your enemy.’ “But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven….” (Matthew 5:43-5)
But he also taught:
“… [W]hoever receives one such child in My name receives Me; but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea..” (Matthew 18:6)
The better option, says Jesus, to those thinking about hurting His kids.
It’s Deadly Serious
This is the new form of war: the front is everywhere, and nowhere; the enemy is highly committed and serious, and hidden; and there are no non-combatants. Candles and chalk drawings and flowers and weepy gatherings will not make it stop. Stop cringing: it only encourages them.
Even worse? Christians are Slaughtered While U.S. Churches Look the Other Way. Jesus says it is he who is persecuted in the suffering and death of his own; and He warns that just as we’ve done unto the least of his flock, we’ve done it– or not done it– unto him.
So, What Now?
Will we stand tall, no matter what? Will we defend and fight for ourselves and our civilization, or not? Do we follow Jesus, and so take up our Cross, and partake in his eternal victory– so giving inward spiritual life to our societies, or not?
As for me, I do not seek martyrdom, but I ask God’s grace that I will not fail him, if it were to come to that. I sacrifice and offer up my time and thought and prayer and love online and in life, where I hope to rebuild the foundations and give strength and courage and insight to my readers.
“Rise heart, thy Lord is risen!” It is hard to mourn whilst celebrating, but God grant us larger hearts so we can do both well at once.
Cheer up. Nut up/ ovary up. Donate, pray, pass the word, and get active.

Three explosions rocked Brussels on Tuesday morning, March 22nd, a massacre killing at least 33 people and injuring hundreds of others.
THE POINT OF TERRORISM is.. terror: submission, paralysis, fear, to control & change you inside. Politics, warfare, & conquest by other means.
You acquiesce to increasing levels of “peace and security” fascism at home, to supposedly prevent internet & mosque made Islamofascists from home and abroad. And you’re never allowed to forget or think otherwise than: You. Are. Helpless.

You know, “useful crises” for the dark powers within the West, and the Jihadi threat-makers, too.
Choices, Choices…
You can be safe, but not free. Or, you can be free, but not safe.
This truism is our life in 2016, and we made it. It’s founded on the fact that Baby Boomers and later could not did not or would not have replacement levels of children; that we imported people to replace our own missing kids; BUT (and thus the Canadian & more general problem) after Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau removed the educated-immigrant requirement, we increasingly allowed in welfare-ready, criminal, and under-educated people, including non-Westernized Muslims (and others) who brought their radical problems and ideas from home to here.
Canada In The Bullseye?
So far, useful-idiot Canada has been part safe-house, and part money-bags for radical terror groups. Our naive and well-intentioned “Multiculturalism” was supposed to mean cool new restaurant menus, and neighbours with exotic outfits and recipes at FolkFest. That’s because to us, faith and politics and Big Ideas and even our entire society are no longer to die for.. that’s the government’s job, now. Yet we import (or create) serious radicals who can operate well below our mental and political radar, people who are gladly misusing Canada’s nice reputation and passports and smug cluelessness.
Moreover, the informal hawalabanking system which allows money to be brokered all over the world from Canada? It means that some families are getting extra money from their Canadian relatives.. and so are some groups who like killing, bombing, raping, and decapitation. Terror gets saddle-bags of cash sent to them from Western supporters and mosques, and there’s no easy way to track it. It might– just might– mean that Canada will only be targeted by homegrown solo or small-group Jihadis, and not ISIS bombing a major airport, big city, or some mass gathering of people.
Who To The Rescue?
Since we’re all unofficially evil & dangerous, even law-abiding peaceful citizens in Canada can go to jail if they shoot or stab a home invader, or, one presumes, a bomb-strapped terrorist. Don’t worry! we’re told, polices will protect you!
This is a fraudulent promise, in the case of Jihadi-suicide terrorism, since the moment the scumtards start shooting or/ and then explode is the moment you’d like really some protection. When seconds count.. the police are only minutes away! I’m not saying that a gun-toting citizenry can solve everything, but nobody really can– even a total police state, overflowing with “Pe-E-e-eace & Se-E-e-ecurity“, and where everybody gets lightly raped at the airport.

Even if our modern airport faux-security theatre undercuts some weapon-options, you don’t have to be totally helpless if dangerous, terrorist, weather crisis, or other emergency situations arise.
1. Your Very Own EDC
For Starters….
(1) Google or YouTube search for ‘Every Day Carry’ (EDC)– and most items are detailed on Amazon.com, so you can buy them more affordably on eBay. Every responsible, mature, and thus safety/ self-defence minded person from 8-year old on up should have some basic daily carry items.
Your EDC, for example? A rescue knife, keychain, good flashlight, a paracord bracelet, a mini-BIC lighter, a tiny Swiss Army knife (with tweezers & a pen), emergency whistle, small multitool, a smartphone, a watch or other time-piece, pen and paper (you can even get self-defence pens), some water, an LED micro-light, a firesteel. In the U.S., you should also have a punchy small gun (.40 or 45ACP), and your concealed-carry license, where possible.
Then.. there’s yer plastic raincoats, emergency mylar blankets, a compass, power-bars, a small backpack, tissues, some Ibuprofen, a bandana (for slings, wounds, and many other uses)….
Frequent flyer worried about TSA-approval? How To Build a TSA-Approved EDC Kit is for you– the verboten stuff goes into your checked-in luggage, for later. A walking stick or cane, a tightly-wrapped magazine, a self-defence or ‘Tactical’ pen— countless cool ways to be ready, even in the crazy disarming-people-air-travel loonyverse of 2016 where you might get bombed anyway.. or even arrested and charged for defending yourself. Yes, really..
Just Start Small.. And Now
There’s an EDC out there for every budget, level of readiness and complexity, and you can even colour-coordinate if you wish, ladies and gentlemen. Make an EDC keychain for each person in your family, and one for the car. Start small, build up, and switch items depending on your daily needs and travel.
Ask yourself: if you were ditched in a snowstorm, on a sinking ship, or caught by a hurricane, or some other emergency, how happy would you be to have these items? How much would you be willing to pay to have them on your belt, in your coat, or stocked in your purse?
E-e-exactly.
2. Get Me Outta Here!
(2) Fun With Escapism. Play this video game in your head, wherever you are. If a bad guy or group of them were to come from this or that direction around me, where could I and my loved ones escape/ run to/ hide from bullets or other violence? Practice this mentally at home, the mall, supermarket, parking lot, airport, tourist location, nightclub, school or university, wherever.
Always try to have a plan A, B, and C– such options keep you from just panicking, and freezing in place. Think: I must be where the danger ISN’T.. and move away if it’s coming close. Don’t be conspicuous, or needlessly heroic– be bland and grey and unremarkable.
Americans: if you have your conceal carry license, use it and carry your sidearm, at very least to create a safe-zone or an escape route for yourself and others. Usually, the police will not be rushing in to save you any time soon. That’s not their job.
3 & 4. Help Out, Self Defence
(3) Do you have a basic First Aid/ CPR course? Could you operate one of those emergency Defibrillator machines you’ll sometimes see around? Could you stanch a wound, secure a broken neck, or use a tourniquet? Get those skills, now, when it’s not urgent. Sign up the office, or the whole family, or the whole school.
Re: helping– Beware that rushing right in after a bombing may be super-dangerous, because some bombers will plant delayed secondary explosives, for when they think the ambulance, police, and firemen have arrived– for even more horrible and costly collateral damage. Do what you can, be cautious, but a dead or wounded you is no use to anybody in need of help.
(4) Basic men or women’s self defence courses are available almost anywhere. MMA/ Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu, Karate, Tae-Kwon-Do, Krav Maga clubs are all over the place, and give you health, confidence, and some self-defence skills at the same time. A little weapon-training will help you fight with various weapons, or improvise, or know how to defend yourself (and others) against different attacks.
Almost Done, Ye Windbag Elf?
The middle class and upwards in Western Europe and much of North America have been generally safe, soft, and peaceful for almost three generations. We’ve enjoyed an extended local vacation from readiness, preparedness, living on the edge, thinking in an emergency.. because we’ve been mistakenly taught in the nanny state mental universe we live in that The World Is Safe, and if not, that Somebody Else Will Always Come Along To Save And Help Us.
A helpless, needy, compliant, disarmed & sheepish populace is ideal for those in power– but not the people themselves. Especially in emergencies.
This is naive at best, and grossly negligent and irresponsible at worst. The world isn’t really like that, so thank emergencies and bad people in this at least: we must be prepared as a minimum level of responsible adulthood. Sure it will cost some time and money and learning– but how much is your life or my life worth? That of our kids, grandkids, or neighbours?
Please keep learning up on those four starter-topics, via Google, YouTube, even Pinterest (and more here)– and pass the word on to others. We don’t have to either live in fear and terror, or in a prison-state.

That Jesus in whom he disbelieved, whose followers he persecuted and against who he breathed threats and murder– He is in fact the Risen Lord, The only-begotten Son of the Father, the true promised Messiah of the Law, the Psalms, and the Prophets.
Soon, Saul of Tarsus is baptized, and from being a persecutor and rounder up of Christians for trial and execution, he becomes Paul The Apostle to the Gentiles, ultimately dying by execution-sword outside Rome, having travelled much of the Roman world for Jesus.
An Astonishing Thing
“I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.“
Those are astonishing words, if you ponder them. In the suffering of his faithful sheep, it is Jesus himself who is being persecuted. It brings new light to his teaching “Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.”
A White Robed Army
Around the world, Christians are at this very moment suffering for their faith. Death, assault, torture, rape, trial, arson, destruction of churches and holy books, imprisonment.
Right now, part of what the U.S. supported ISIL is doing is rounding up young Christian women and girls for rape by their troops; beheading and crucifying other Christians; converting churches into mosques; burning Christian libraries and thousands of priceless ancient documents.
That’s not including the sufferings of Christians for their faith in China, South Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and via increasing repression and exclusion in the West. The 20th century– under Communism, Nazism, and a resurgent Islam, saw more Christians tortured and martyred simply for being Christians than in the previous 20 centuries combined. Most people don’t know the scale of this historic evil, and many just don’t care.
Where are we in 2016?

The response of international human rights groups? The UN? The heads of most Western governments, including “Christians” like Obama, or Junior Trudeau? Major media outlets? Virtual silence, or else only minor, belated, and muted concern.
Politically correct & Muslim-pandering Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau is wrong: Prioritizing refugee claimants isn’t “disgusting.” Anti-Christian genocide is. And he’s cancelled the prioritizing.. just open the floodgates for the “migrants”.

In the manufactured “Migrant Crisis”, both Turkey and Western governments are not sending actually persecuted and suffering Christians, refugee camp dwellers, and other faith groups first of all to the West– but Muslims currently dwelling in Turkey. It’s a genocide we’re aiding and abetting.
Actual Christians
The average Christian is not a rich white TV evangelist or millionaire mega-pastor, but an impoverished woman from the third world. Sadly, most Western elites are lapsed or cultural Christians, who imagine that the church and thus most Christians are rich, white, safe, comfortable, and rather narrow-minded and unpleasant about.. certain sensitive topics.
What ancient and mdoern dictators and extremists know, even if soft and gelatinous Western elites don’t, is that faithful Christians can be tough, hard-working, resilient, faithful, unyielding in important matters, supporters of human rights & freedoms, speakers against injustice and misrule, aiders of the poor and needy, and peaceful enemies of brutal regimes.
The Fight Back
Thankfully, groups like the ACLJ and others are fighting for their brothers and sisters in Christ in practical, legal, and political venues.

Donate to groups like the ACLJ (click here); pray for the persecuted church; get educated on persecution in the past and present; write letters to your local, regional, and national representatives; write letters ans speak out to international governments; and in all of it, persist until you make a difference, and help those who cannot now help themselves, and who will be encouraged by knowing people care.

~ CANADA IS about to join the ranks of tax-funded medical murderers. The slope has never been more slippery, and now it’s being greased up even more.
The 20th century witnessed an unprecedented intrusion and invasion of the state into more and more areas of basic human existence– conception, birth, youth, education, speech, thought, marriage, reproduction & child-rearing, middle age, doctoring, sickness, old age, and death. Progressives have short-sightedly celebrated their ‘victories’ over the older moral, legal, and religious consensus, at the same time as a giant shadow grows higher behind them: the all-powerful dehumanizing über-state.
As a former parish pastor, I’ve attended hundreds of deathbeds, done hundreds of funerals, counseled and comforted the dying, their families, friends, and loved ones. Death can be scary– so is suffering, and uncertainty, and the fear of dying alone, or in great pain, or uncomforted, or being kept alive by machines just because machines can do it. Believe me, I really do get it.
RIP, My Father
My own father was a doctor, researcher, and pathologist. He’d made it clear he wanted no heroic measures whilst dying. Unfortunately, he actually died entering the local ER, so they did what they should have done, and brought him back, and filled him with tubes and IVs and all the life-saving things.
Once revived, he made clear by weakly tugging on the tubes what his wishes were. After some long-distance talk amongst his sons, there was a meeting with the doctors as to his express wishes. He’d had a chain of strokes. His body was weak, and massively infected. The special drugs he needed for lung enzymes were barely working anymore. He’d already died once– this was his time to return to God.
Out came the tubes. He’d lost his speech with the last stroke, but his relief was evident in smiles and glad looks. He had a chance to hold hands with everybody who could be there. My little brother shaved him up, put him in one of his beloved famous Hawai’ian shirts (his mother was born & raised there), and in his glory, he had his happy farewell, with love and prayers all around him.
The lung enzyme medication was gradually withdrawn, and he fell into a deepening sleep, then into death. RIP.
Danger, Will Robinson!
He’d always said to me that for modern medicine, death was seen as a failure, as something defeating medical powers, so extreme measures were often not about the person, but about the medico-technological imperative to fight death as if it was a disease, as if people should never die, and medicine was the answer to that age-old and abiding question-mark hovering over death. Now, we’re hastening towards forcing death hand. What, progress?
Humans are flawed beings, with great powers, mixed motives, and a nearly comical blindness for results and consequences. If we let healthcare bean-counters and committees of the well meaning– or ill meaning– in Canada gang up with people who just want to be rid of themselves or of people who are nuisances, then we will surely and tragically follow the inhuman path of the medical murderers in Belgium, Holland, and many of our own Canadian hospitals– only it will be official, and, increasingly, taken out of the hands of the patient, or their family. Playing God never ends well, even if we think the law of regrettable and ‘unseen’ consequences won’t apply to us, not this time, only all those other times. The many many dead and silenced victims of euthanasia in Europe over the last 40+ years have fulfilled Hitler’s dream that only the strong (and medically inexpensive) deserve life. The rest are useless eaters, and untermenschen— or in the case of Chinese medical totalitarianism, a rather profitable source of fresh organs.
Even more tragically, every new case of medical suicide/ murder in the news by someone trying to ease their pain or death plays right into the hands of (a) the managers, who want death to be as easy as modern abortion, and (b) those who want to think that death is a final end, that there is no God– or, that he forgives anything, even unrepented suicide or medical murder, because He’s a nice old dude. No worries– it’s all good. We know better. We’re so very smart, and powerful. We will fix all the problems, and, quite frankly, God and his merciful rules and whiny followers be damned.

It used to be said that the true measure of any society was how it treated the most vulnerable; the Bible enjoined mercy and charity towards the widows and fatherless and hungry, and the stranger in the land. It was easy to be kind when the world economy was booming– but how much more important now that our world financial bust threatens everything– including our over-burdened health-care, and the aging Baby-Boomer wave now approaching it.
Heavenly Speaking
Suicide via medical murder puts all the immortal souls involved at risk of mortal sin and eternal consequences not to be imagined. Suffering, uncertainty, need, and fear– even death itself– are not the worst things possible, after all.
Medical suicide/ medical murder is ultimately our crisis of faith in a God who redeems life, suffering, and death, through his divine Son. Suffering in love and patience and prayer is a lesson we need very much to relearn, in the reconversion to God which our rotting society needs, lest the lights go down in the West in unbelief and death and ignorance.

— TEH BINKS IS not a prepper, nor prepped for any emergency past about a week. Like most of us, I have a couple of weeks worth of food here and there, a few candles (power black-out), a wood-stove (even though the genius NS government is pushing heat pumps instead, which work *so* well without power), a plethora of flashlights, a BBQ (powerless cooking), and a bottled water thingy (2-3 bottles if a big storm is a-coming). Worse comes to worse, there is water in the water heater; some tools & weapons around the house, couple of wind-up radios.. but nothing like, say, a one month extended emergency might require.
Truth is, in two generations we have mostly gone from the self-sufficiency of gardening, small-farming, canning, sewing, knitting, bottling, hunting, home-baking people… into fast-food insta-meal somebody has to look after me, just-in-time, not just in case people (and that includes our food-stores, pharmacies, and hospitals). Just-In-Time is cheaper, less storage costs.

Why, Back In MY Day
I remember working as a bag-boy & stock boy at a supermarket in 1979. Built under the story was a huge stock-filled warehouse of products. Now, in most supermarkets, there is no such warehouse. Most have 3 days of food. Similar efficiencies abound in pharmacies & hospitals– all presume that the supply-chain will always function, to bring new drugs of medical supplies, no matter what.
Because when you need insulin or your heart-meds or antibiotics, a week or two shouldn`t be a problem, right? Someone will bring us food & water when our cupboards and supermarkets run out, no doubt.
Some Resources
Remember to take into consideration the sick, elderly, those needing prescriptions, and your pets. Also, how and with what you will defend yourself from intruders & looters, wild animals, or other problems. Remember any special items needed to prepare for any particular local risks: flood, earthquake, tornado, hurricane, volcano, epidemic, etc.
Learn up now; watch some basic YouTube videos. You don`t have to be a bunkerized prepper to be prepared.

The evidence is already in from nations which have espoused such evil as medical murder: it quickly becomes not your choice. No, Miss Maynard. I have been variously ill for 30 years. I have read and pondered and thought on suffering, evil, death, and God for a similar length of time. And, as with many who have been ill, what you suggest– self-murder– has come to whisper sweet nothings in my ears. There is no easy exit.
I have also tried to love God & neighbour, and redeem the time, for the days are evil, and to remember that as God made me from dust, to dust I shall return.. and yet, by grace, I shall arise even unto a new heaven and a new earth– a new body! where there shall be no more tears, or suffering, or dying, for the former things are passed away. I do not think God will bless you for having played god with yourself.
