I have just sent the following letter in support of Dr. Mehta:
Dear Dr. Hemming,
My family and I have been some-time residents of Nova Scotia since 2003, and have always been moved by the friendliness of your people and, in general, their practical common sense and peaceful ways. Therefore I am stunned to read about what is being done to Professor Rick Mehta, at your university.
I have skin in this game, as they say. I have been a professor of literature for more than thirty years, introducing students to a range of works spanning four thousand years and more than a dozen cultures, written in a broad variety of languages, ten of which I read. So I can see where Dr. Mehta is coming from.
He and his family have been, in their lives and in profoundly personal ways, the victims of ugly prejudices, some of them arising from a clash of cultures, the British and the Indian, and then the Canadian and the Indian. And yet he has the grace, and it seems the courage, not merely to condemn the British, and then your own people the Canadian, for pure evil. He has tried to understand both peoples and to evaluate them with equity, and because of that — because, apparently, he does NOT HATE his erstwhile overlords with sufficient passion — you are now doing to him exactly what you accuse the overlords of having done.
In other words, YOU are playing the part of a colonial master, coming down hard against a mild-mannered and gentle man, for daring not to be your intellectual puppet.
That is disgraceful in its own right. At a university, supposedly a place where young people are to be taught to pursue the truth, it is inexcusable.

~ AS MY FATHER used to say, ancient civilizations were invaded from outside by barbarians: modern societies are more efficient– we make our own barbarians, inside the gates.
This is an actionable moment for any concerned Canadian, Nova Scotia, Acadia Grad, academic, or just concerned person. It’s also a time to press the media to tell an accurate story, unlike the Canadian Press hack-job reprinted in the recent Chronically Horrid, which mostly quotes an associate professor from New Brunswick as the “expert”.
~ HANS KÜNG used to be a very big deal. I was wondering the other day if he was still alive. He is.
Younger Hans was the say-anything unorthodox enfant terrible of the mid-20th century Catholic Church revolution. He and his ilk were going to remake everything in sight: Church, society, culture, thought, truth itself. Utopia now: just one more change!
Now, the young radical celebrity is almost 90. I got his autograph once, in the mid-’80s. “Hans Kung, Not Infallible” it read. Daring.
Just Phone It In, Hans
His speech that day was a disappointing rehash of Thomas Kuhn’s “Paradigm Shift” theories.. from a book published in 1962, almost 25 years before he spoke to us at Acadia. Count me underwhelmed.
He brought nothing recent, relevant, nothing about Catholicism or post-1960s developments in theology, philosophy… just rehash. Regurge. Leftovers. Could’ve just sent along a polite note saying “Read this book. I like it.”
Yet he was a big deal, back in the day, truly one of the 20th century modernist tsunami-riders, wreaking havoc on the Catholic Church as she was torn from her true self and made a puppet for the passing Zeitgeist and radical politics. In 2018, we are still floating amidst the wreckage, corpses, dirt, pollution and chaos of that time.
It’s all good. Exciting & dynamic things are happening all around us! Embrace The Now. Don’t be narrow-minded and afraid of change.
A Band Of Busy Clevers
There was a whole cadre of such clever modernizers as Küng, who had schemed amongst themselves and with the modernist Pope John XXIII and his protege Montini (later Pope Paul VI) to subvert the original plans for the ecumenical council which became known as Vatican II. You can even read some of what was supposed to be discussed in the Council that was never allowed to take place, now that the revolution was rolling.
That crucial moment was all about power: seizing it, keeping it, imposing it, and remaking the Church in their image. The book-series and TV-show Game Of Thrones looks mild by comparison.
The break was with the past, personified by a ‘Medieval’ Pius XII: as he aged, he was minimized, mocked, dismissed, even shown in newspaper photos on his death-bed, and displayed at the funeral after a (deliberately?) bungled embalming. Pius was then all but erased & forgotten in the predestined scheme to elect the stealth-modernist, progressive socialist, & likely freemason Roncalli (John XXIII) to the papal throne.

They Didn’t Start The Arson
From the 1750s onwards, a spirit of revolution, change, utopianism, and anti-Christianity arose in Europe. Promoted by the Masonic Lodges, “new-thinking” intellectuals in France and England and elsewhere, that idea of suddenly remaking everything broke out in France in that blood-soaked Revolution; less catastrophically in English legal and political reforms in the early 1800s, yet again in the Communist-inspired 1840s and 1850s, and on into the 20th century.
“Bad things happen; we’re the ones who can & will fix it! We will do things to others for their own good, and throw down the bad people, and make a better future for mankind! Away with priests and superstition and kings and old ways!” Hence Robespierre, Marx, and all the others. Revolution now, then utopia!
Striking The Roots, Replacing The Tree
The Vatican II Council was the mature fruit of that revolutionary spirit, and– within the Church– of over 80 years and more of bubbling ferment and subversion, promotions and mutual protection, denial and deceit, of the restless gnostic Catholic progressive modernists– the superior special ones who know the special things– planning to overthrow both the substance and appearance of the great enemy of Europe’s turbulent revolutionary spirit– the Catholic Church.
Once, perhaps, Hans Küng thought a glorious future lay just ahead, a churchly utopia of spirit and world cooperating to make a bright New Age for humanity. Surely this was the true motion of the Holy Spirit!
Sadly, such revolutionized ‘Christian’ leaders forgot the basic truth: don’t immanentize the eschaton. That is, don’t try and make heaven on earth in man’s image, for it will be hell. Such Marxism is a shallow shadow-faith leading to lies, gulags, and bleak fields of broken bones.
A Sad Shallow Failed Utopia

Sadly, and in retrospect, the brief pause in the revolution represented by Benedict XVI now leaves us in 2018 with the spectacle of two popes, one bullied out of office by nefarious means and whispered threats, and the other bent on remaking everything in his own image, and according to a singular and imposed modernist interpretation of both Vatican II, and his own ideas. Oh yeah– and Pope Benedict XVI was pushed. He did not jump.
The glorious revolution in the Church has– by its own internal logic– collapsed into mere power, a cult of personality, a marginalizing and dividing force, not a unifying and building principle, in which the “winners” endlessly repeat themselves, cheating the Church into fresh compromises and radical lies, collecting power and fame and money and more control. Doing things To people, and not For them, as Christ’s own precious flock, for whom he died. Even, helping souls onward to Hell, and not Heaven.
Not a very inspiring utopia. Not exactly a very healthy or happy Church. The more they ‘succeed’, the more they fail– failing God, and his people, and the true Kingdom.

Turn Or Burn, Buddy
I do hope Hans repents and recants before he dies, though it will take long years before ever the horrid festering wounds and terrible damage he and his ilk did to the Church will be healed or repaired. Surely 1789 to 2018 is enough time to observe that revolutions go rogue: once things start falling apart, there’s no easy way to say “Whoa! That’s enough, and no further!” Surely the arrogance and pride of the long line of revolters is from Lucifer The Lying Proud Murderer, and not of Him Who came to serve, and not be served?
The way forward is not more revolution, but rather remembrance, rebuilding, rebuke, repentance, re-commitment, resistance, contemplative and prayerful obedience to Christ The King, and not to the spirit of the world, or the dark gods of worldly power, control, and proud sin.

~ BINKS JUST LOVES him some Poinsettias.. in all their 100+ varieties of colour and look. I loved to have the church loaded with them where & when possible. It was only later I learned the dark history of the man behind popularizing the Mexican plant we display at Christmastime.
The remarkable Joel Roberts Poinsett was a son of Charleston, South Carolina. As a young man, he learned many languages, law, and military affairs, then travelled widely through Europe, and South America. Later, he became the first United States ‘Minister’ (diplomatic spy) to Mexico in 1822-3, appointed by President John Quincy Adams.
The diplomat loved the Mexican plant “flor de la nochebuena“, or Christmas Eve flower, or Catarina. It was later named after him, after he introduced it to the United States in 1829– at a flower show in a Masonic Lodge.
Utopians At Work
For the remarkable Poinsett was also a Master Mason, and a Past Master of Recovery Lodge #31, Greenville, and Solomon’s Lodge, Charleston. His widespread interference on behalf of American interests in Mexico and South America tended in an anti-Catholic and U.S. democratic direction, and he was an expert in exploiting divisions within the newly independent Mexico, so to benefit American politics and aspirations, and his Freemasonic notions.
He helped quickly spread several forms of freemasonry to Mexico, then used the Mexican lodges to political ends… as he did wherever he went in the New World, against the forces of “aristocracy” and the Catholic Church.
Poinsett was rightly accused of fomenting revolution in Mexico, and he was expelled in 1829. He went back to begin a life in internal American politics.

Radical Mexican Freemasons ruled Mexico, and so Poinsett’s interventions twisted Mexican politics and religion for the next 120 years. Masons presided over many bloody persecutions of Mexican Catholics from 1815 through to the 1940s, including the famous ‘War of The Cristeros‘ in the 1920s. Countless persecuted Catholic martyrs suffered or died because of Poinsett’s Masonic new world religion.
In the early 20th century, the Freemasons were on the march, and militant secularism was the next great thing: no more kings or priests, just one great fellowship of humanity. Revolutionary France, Italy, Mexico, the new USSR, and soon Hitler’s Germany would all part of the same movement. “Those whom the gods would destroy, they first drive mad” as the ancient saying has it.

Sadly, the Church herself is often effected by the fads and power-seeking conspiracy-loving ways of the fallen world– it was only by a last-minute intervention that Cardinal Rampolla, possibly of the the Masonic Ordo Templi Orientalis, was not elected in 1903 instead of Pope St. Pius X. Later Masonic-insider revelations in the 1970s indicate that many leading Roman Catholic prelates, cardinals, and ecclesiastical movers and shakers were likely members of Masonic lodges, despite the Catholic restriction on such things. Such men included many of the architects of the radical Vatican II event.

The humble Flor de la nochebuena is one of God’s lovely creations, and despite Mr. Poinsett & Co.’s own best efforts, it has become a much-loved Christian and seasonal symbol of the birth of Christ the King, helping churches everywhere celebrate with beauty and colour the nativity of the newborn King, God incarnate, Man Divine, God with us, our true saviour, judge, friend, ruler, and salvation.

In the latest iOS update on the iPad (bought in loving memory of my techie Dad), something went missing which had been there in every single previous operating system I’d used on it. The Youtube “Share With FaceBook” button in the Apple iPad YouTube App. No, seriously.
As all of you who follow Teh Bink’s every word, deed, thought, and passing whim will know, in the cool of the evenings whilst I rest on the fainting couch, I was in the habit of posting a few, nay, even a half-dozen YouTube videos I found interesting, topical, or cool via the iPad.
Then comes the latest update. No button.
Shut Up, They Explained
Sharing awkward information is one of the things the controlling elites hate about social media; GoogleTube is working on hiding news on Las Vegas, Twitter is punishing people by bannings and the like. The news & views sorting-algorithms all tilt hard to the left. The great silencing may be approaching. Only kitty-pictures, fake news, and bad jokes in the new Utopia.

Not saying it’s a conspiracy, but such ‘accidental’ censorship is damned weird, and makes no sense. It’s also really inconvenient for people who use Apple for stuff… maybe it’s time for a mini-laptop, where Goog-Apple-Twit-Tube can’t block me from sharing videos– yet.
Or, it could just be more digital global wars… is Google pressing Apple to slight FaceBook, via limiting YouTube on iPads? Might well be.

Got it? Corporations are trying to police online free speech, especially the politically incorrect, unpopular, or religiously traditional. Terror? Death to all Juice sermons? ISIS-associated AntiFa hate-screeds? Murder of gay Iranians? Those videos are not being blocked or fiddled with in any way, of course. Only certain offensivetopics.
The current YouTube CEO preens:
“We know advertisers don’t want their ads next to content that doesn’t align with their values. So starting today, we’re taking a tougher stance on hateful, offensive and derogatory content. This includes removing ads more effectively from content that is attacking or harassing people based on their race, religion, gender or similar categories. This change will enable us to take action, where appropriate, on a larger set of ads and sites.”
Even videos mentioning the new policy, or criticizing Google or YouTube will get demonetized (of course). As with so many free speech fascisms, truth, freedom of speech, facts, or fair opinion are not legit defences or reasons to the speech-killers. There’s also talk of actual censorship, with videos deleted, made private, or hidden behind digital walls as bad content.
The Fallout
Then, hard-Leftist Google bought up YouTube. The company was pressured to make nice with video content by some very big corporations. The new inhuman algorithm for picking nice videos ensues, along with many YouTubers losing money for allegedly potentially ‘offensive’ content.
ALL guilty until proven innocent, until they appeal.. until their next video. Even formerly acceptable older videos by the same Youtuber on the same current topics or games as before? Demonetized & demonized! DONK!
THEN, you get to send an appeal, to be reviewed by an actual human. One appeal per each video, 2-4 days processing. Some YouTubers now have literally hundreds and hundreds of vids just demonetized by the SKyNet algorithm.

The Less Mighty Jingles
English YouTuber Paul Charleton goes by the nom de web “The Mighty Jingles”. I’m a longtime fan & subscriber.
In his case, ALL the recent work of this huge YouTuber (over 500K subscribers) — DONK!!! — he has had to do for free, because YouTube’s algorithm has smited almost everybody, and all of his recent videos, which cover… a handful of electronic games, with an avuncular lashing of humour and history.

Hence the “Adpocalypse”: Normally, YouTubers are paid by advertisers through YouTube for the views each video receives. More views, more $$$ for YouTube & their creators. Before. Now, everything is different, and worse.

Books, cars (even cars made here, 10-15%+.. Americans in Hawaii still pay less than Canadians), consumer electronics, cell phones, taxes (42%), prescriptions, food, bus & airfares, clothing, gasoline, tools, hockey tickets, healthcare, internet access & phone plans, alcohol.. we hardly ever ask questions why– even with a 70-80% Trudeau dollar– things can still be cheaper for us on Amazon, eBay, or with cross-border shopping. If you try and cross-border car-shop? The dealers have been told to chase you away, and the paper-work and fees are crushing. Can’t have the Canadians seeking fairness!
The grey-market is growing, but boy-oh-boy do Canadians feel dirty and guilty for avoiding taxes and tariffs. Even immoral, excessive, and illegal taxes.
How bad is it under the tax-loving deficit-spending Trudeau 2.0 regime? The middle class now pays more on taxes than we do on food, clothes, and shelter. The TOTAL tax & hidden expenses burden on Canadians is over 70%. How delightful! In 2019, we’ll all pay an extra $2200– $200 PER MONTH– for fighting carbonization, or some such. Whatever…
Too-Easy Answers
And no, it’s not just the price of doing business in Canada… although many Trudeau 1.0 era (and earlier) tariffs and product-supply “management” on staples such as milk & eggs & wheat & poultry? All adds up to 150-300% prices on such items… we did this to ourselves, as part of protecting our markets from the U.S. behemoth. Plus, it’s a nice monopoly for our own producers, against the public– just like our airline monopoly. Government– 3 times the cost, @ 1/3 the service!
Our infamous socialist “Free health care”? Depending on your income, it costs about $12-35K per person. Since the Chretien “balanced budgets” of the early ’90s, when he downloaded healthcare costs to people and provinces as federal “savings”, it’s not even that good, fast, or effective any more. Innovation? Rationing.. and people who can’t even get a doctor aside from the ER.
Screw Us Over! We Love It!
The insane cost of electricity in Ontario? Because the progressives in the Liberal government don’t know how to science, math, or government very well.
Gas prices in Nova Scotia, an oil & gas producing province? Sky-high, because governments are stupid and, again, the PM Chretien-era agreements basically make us a pipeline to the U.S., with minuscule benefits for the general populace, local economy or workforce or gas-prices. Maybe 2% lower fuel prices, or a cut in provincial gas-taxes? A pay-down on the provincial debt? A provincial rainy-day fund? It is to laugh. AMERICA benefits from OUR exported lower-priced oil and gas.
We just accept it. We’re used to being screwed over on prices by governments & taxation, Canadian retailers & producers, and some American retailers. Everybody basically just bends over, because here it comes again.
Why do we pay so much more? Blind obedience. Idiot tax. Not Paying Attention Tax. Thoughtless compliance with unjust authority, worst practices, corruption, and outdated money-grabbing policies & 14th century duty & customs. Shrug, complain a bit, & then cough up.
So our economy and tax-burden and debt and deficits and future for our kids is circling the shitter… never mind.. as long as we can get a cool picture with our current Prime Minister, Prince Selfie, we’re awesome!

Now we come to it: what will the powers– the politician/ Google/ FaceBook Banking Consortium do when Bread & Circus no longer pacifies? Purge. Silence. Block. Bankrupt.
Individual have been getting blocked and banned on Facebook and YouTube; Google search algorithms are being hard-leftified; blogs are threatened and shut down; whole YouTube channels are being (a) de-monetized (no advertising money for the content producers), (b) kicked off the sidebar & ‘what’s new’ and ‘what’s popular’ lists; (c) categorized & hidden behind an “Offensive” listing; (d) Just shut down altogether. Plus, Patreon will arbitrarily deprive people of income, and people their freedom to donate and support those causes… thanks, CEO Jack Conte!
Shame If Anything Happened To It…
Not very long ago, a whole group of the most visited non-progressive Catholic FaceBook pages simply vanished one day. No warning, explanation, or apologies. The uproar ensued, and presto-bango-bingo they all reappeared!.. plus a lame ‘malfunction’ excuse. I consider this pre-purge testing: “What if we purge this stuff– what’s the reaction? Also, can we erase a category of pesky crap?”
Over the past 2-3 months, YouTube has also hired certifiably rabid & totalitarian radical progressive watchdogs to ‘guide’ the Google sub-corporation (yes, the Monopoly is real) into calm all-is-happy waters. You know, where no upsetting stuff is online, or is de-monetized, hidden, or put behind special barriers for ‘controversial content’. No, not porn, or bloodthirsty Islamic propaganda, or actually objectionable content, but upsetting & incorrect opinions and thoughts.
If you’re not Social Justice Snowflake.. pro-Islam.. pro-radgay & pro-trans.. pro-ANTIFA.. pro-globalist.. anti-Trumper.. pro-climate emergency.. pro-political hamster cage– the usual crap– then, increasingly, The Google/ Twitter/ YouTube/ Blogging Platform Monster wants to kick you down & out. Just like the Human Rights Kangaroo Courts in Canada, the crucial fact is this: truth & freedom & reason & fair opinion is NOT A DEFENCE. Some lefty-media even called it a ‘screed’ and waved the ‘alt-right’ (i.e., non-progtard) flag over the controversy, because it broached forbidden and settled topics in the reality-lite Progressive undiverse.
Since reality is not a progressive strong-point, you generally just have to expose what they are up to, when (not if) they stumble and make a cruel stupid mess of things, and fall into the trap they placed for someone else. Finale, In Conclusions
Ultimately, God. Does he exist, or not; knowable, or not? Revealed once for all in Christ Jesus, or not? It has moral, legal, intellectual, and even online implications if “Yes”.
The pillars of the West– even those abstracted by the Left (“Judge not” or “love your neighbour” or equality)– are based on Greco-Roman Judaeo-Christianity thought, law, and faith. As these are attacked, the whole structure is weakened, not just the parts the revolutionaries want to wreck because Utopia.
The real issue is one of faith, hope, and love: do we still believe in truth, do we still have hope in God? Do we love ourselves and our neighbours enough to reject current versions of Bread & Circuses, and false peace when there is no peace? When we look into ourselves, is there any “There” there? Are we slaves in waiting, or glorious free citizens of heaven in pilgrimage here on earth, doing His will here as there?
