~ TEH BINKS, he comes from a solidly medical family (on one side): my Dad was a pathologist like his Scots-Canadian Dad before him; Dad’s Mom trained as a nurse (RN); my Mom trained as an Occupational Therapist; my Dad’s brother is a surgeon, his sister a nurse & nursing professor (both volunteered to aid victims after the Haiti Earthquake), my aunt a dental nurse (RN). I was supposed to be a pathologist, too, but you can’t do that with math-dyslexia, it turns out.

Thus, I respect what doctors are & can do, but I also know what they aren’t and can’t do… and sometimes, medicos are simply and utterly underwhelming. That, plus an overworked medical and nursing profession, health cutbacks, and too much bureaucracy & government rationing = special fun.

Binks Has The Crud

After the six hour sweaty dizzy painy weaky stint in the ER, Dr. Snitty McNoBedside *should* have said: “Sir, I’m glad to say it’s not acute or flagrant appendicitis yet, according to the tests.. however, you clearly are in pain, and your body is possibly reacting to some kind of intestinal inflammation and infection. Given your immune-issues, I strongly suggest you see your GP first thing tomorrow, and see if he recommends some antibiotics or other treatment.”

What was said to me from the above? Nada. I might as well have been a malingering street-bum looking for a mercy-hit of opioids– “You have nothing that we can treat here.” You effing loon.

Off To Another Doc

This morning? Still sweaty dizzy painy weaky. Not well. My amazing GP gave me antibiotics, for an obvious bout of intestinal/ diverticular inflammation-infection. Like I tried to tell them in the ER.

Thing is, I’m a pro-active patient, attentive to my health because I have to be. I have a medically aware mind, if not training, and I’m willing to speak up and ask questions, because doctors have not descended on a ray of light from a higher plane.

What about the quiet patient? The fearful & overly-respectful? Someone without an advocate (like She-Binks & I have in each other)? Someone with actual or serious disease which does not fit the diagnostic model? Someone with a crappy doctor? Really serious medical problems? Semi-compis mentis?

Even as we waited yesterday, the loudspeaker squeaked some code-message: I asked the nurse what it was about– the ER was officially too full. No room left. At 6pm.

Multi-Tier Treatment

We’ve had a mild debate in this country about “two-tier” health care. The bitter truth is, we have many-tier health care– all depending on rich/ poor; outspoken or quiet; rural or urban;  bitchy or over-patient; informed or uninformed.

And we’re burying more people than we should– at $12-30K per person for our “free” health care, because of ER and surgical wait-times, doctor-shortages, and wait-times to see specialists. Here in NS, there are still several hundred thousand people with no family doctor.. who end up in the ER for ordinary medical issues, prescriptions and the like. Nationally, 15% of the public have no GP. It’s become euthanasia by waiting-list.. the silent killer.

Meanwhile, no doubt Glorious Leader & saviour SelfieMan Justin in Ottawa will send countless billions overseas to improve ER wait-times in some other land than his own, you know, the one he has a duty and responsibility for, in law and by God. It is to weep.

I’m really starting to think that– just like Obama and America, Mr. Trudeau & his bosses & minions &the bureaucracy don’t give a flying f*ck about ordinary people, or the suffering and death of Canadians on their watch. It’s not about you, schmuck.

Finally, In Concussion

From what I recall of yesterday afternoon & evening of the intake staff, nurses, and the intern doc? Superb. Dr. Snitty McNoBedside? Considering registering an official complaint.

I think it would be a best-seller, and the sheer numbers and examples of names and ways to erase the bothersome, the whistle-blowers, the know-too-muches, the inconvenient, the trouble-makers– it would shock and astonish us. Popes, Cardinals, presidents, CEOs, rich drug-lords, celebrities, wealthy families, the CIA & FBI, secret cabals, conspiracies, big corporations– everybody does it from time to time, for any number of nefarious reasons.

Keep an eye on the whistleblowers, the uppity, the awkwardly uncooperative, those who think they are safe because they know where the skeletons are buried, or who know too much, the crusaders, the exposers and dogged journalists & reporters.. and note how they are either professionally disassembled via the politics of personal destruction.. or else how they suddenly and mysteriously die in any number of creative ways. Bullets, poisons, cancers & sudden diseases, car or airplane crashes, gym “accidents”, robberies-gone-wrong, “random” violence.. you name it. Money and a little creativity = plausible deniability.

 

The police or investigating authorities– if they are not already in on it– can be threatened, bought off, see careers ruined and promotions shelved.. or be offed as well. The establishment has many secrets to hide, and will close ranks. The news-monkey media is mostly bought off. The family of the offed and the public will often keep silent with what they know or suspect, for pure fear of the deadly consequences, and being “found dead” next. Silence is safest.

The churches– all of them– shield & protect criminals, and the guilty protect and cover for each other. Pedophilia, pederasty and many other crimes shame the name of Christ and shred the authority of such churches… yet the guilty are not often caught, or punished, or defrocked. Everybody has something bad on somebody.

Jill Dando? Liz MacKean? Veronica Guerin? Vince Foster? The Kennedy brothers, and JFK Jr.?, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, critics and opponents of the Clinton Presidency, and the Obama administrations? Seth Rich, Ron Brown…. it’s a long list of possibles and likelys and almost-certains.

Many of the great and powerful are horrid, dirty, depraved and evil people. The European and North American elites are all implicit in this quiet murder spree, and have been since the middle of the 19th century, at least… and particularly since the Second World War.

It’s an ancient human way of operation. Still useful today in Church & state, business and politics– and the Soviet Union was expert at such things. Dirty deeds done cheap, no questions, no loose ends… and under Putin, reporters and political trouble-makers just keep suddenly and unexpectedly dying.

We Have No King But Caesar

Of course, this is the same idea found in the New Testament, with the plots against the life of Jesus. Even mutual enemies come together in the scheme– ‘Silence his disruptive words and deeds, before our whole rotten human world of lies and excuses and hypocrisy and sin and cover-ups comes crashing down.. muzzle the God-Man and make him go away.’ “Crucify him!”

Get a few false witnesses, a secret trial-by-night. bully the politically vulnerable Pontius Pilate, and the walking trouble from Nazareth is dead and silenced and sealed in a tomb guarded by soldiers… who can always be threatened, bribed, or silenced if anything awkward happens.

Such is the way of the world, of our human hearts avoiding the light & truth.. from the little kid covered in cookie crumbs and chocolate who denies he ate the cookies, up to the billionaire CEO or prince of the Church or political family mafia who seek safety in darkness and silencing and a little murder now and again. The body count is always there.

And yet– God is truth; from him no secrets are hid; the clevers and those with blood on their hands may escape prosecution, imprisonment or execution in this life, but God is not mocked. Jesus– our saviour & judge– warned [St. Luke 12:3]

Justice shall be done; the innocent and the murdered and the victims shall receive their due; the schemers and assassins and those who use them will receive perfect and inescapable divine judgment and eternal consequences; such worldly “power” and destructiveness in the service of evil, lies, sins, power, and cruelty will be revealed as the bestial and demonic work of Satan himself, the murderer and father of lies.

My hope is in Christ.. the worldling or Jihadist or power-monger may try to silence me, but they cannot not silence my Jesus, and it’s Risen His life in me which is my joy and peace, my redemption and forgiveness. Period.*

However, there’s Truth, and then there’s how you go about seeking & speaking about truth. And not all matters of opinion are absolutely clear or one-sided: there are passing matters, topics on which free folk of good will may legitimately disagree. It might even be the case that both sides of an argument may be wrong!

Then It Gets Ugly

However, there’s no denying a very human tendency to absolutize one side of a debate or argument. Then, the most dangerous and ugly step follows: to label your opponent as ignorant, or evil– or both. After all, you’ve told them over and over the right position, so they aren’t misinformed– it must be wilful evil and denial of the truth.

Why, such people are the very devil! Barely human. Severely horribly yucky. Orcs, in human skins! Just mistreat them however seems good to you! Let ’em have it!!

Whoa, There

Except… all people are made in the image and likeness of Almighty God. Such cruelty, dehumanization, domination, combativeness, and prideful exaltation is not of God.  Jesus did not act that way, and He is the Son of God incarnate. He is the final Judge and Jury of all souls, and his is the last and final word.

If you find yourself or someone else utterly writing other people off in a harsh and heavy-handed manner, you yourself are under the very judgment of heaven, no matter how much you might actually me technically in the right. “Speak the truth in love” says the Apostle Paul– and now, more than ever, we need to keep that command and admonition in our hearts and minds.

Speaking only truth without love is Christless cruelty and pride. Speaking only love without truth is sentimentality and unjust and– ultimately– uncaring. Both errors (or, virtue gone wild & wrong) are truly hellish.

For Christians, the Creeds tell us what to believe in; the Commandments teach us how to live; and the Lord’s Prayer teaches us how to seek & find God. It is never wasted effort to learn or refresh ourselves in these heaven-sent fountains of life, and to ask God to give us the good fruit of seeking him in truth and love, and telling others about him in ways that are winsome, humble, loving, and yet also truthful.

Why bother?– Souls hang in the balance, including mine and yours. See you on Judgment Day. ~

~ CURRENT EVENTS are testing a lot of us, and many are falling into temptation and sin because we are not close enough to God. THe war is especially visible online.

Harsh words, harsher attitudes, insults, disrespect, hate, contempt, social media flame wars, defriendings.. and please don’t tell me it’s all of the Lord, and that Satan isn’t rejoicing to see brothers and sisters in Christ at each other’s throats like rabid dogs. Gack.

To be tested or tempted is not in itself sinful.. only to give in, to wallow in it, to take the easiest way, and thus to have ourselves revealed in that moment to be unstable mud, and not polished steel. It’s humbling, and calls for repenting and beseeching grace, not more of the same.

We must forgive those who trespass against us, if we would be forgiven; we must ask God not to allow us to fall into the time of testing, because we too easily fail. These two petitions of the Lord’s Prayer are all the more important in perilous and troublesome times.

THERE’S A world-wide conspiracy against silence, quiet, calm, and it’s coming at us from all directions at once. For those of us who don’t do life at volume-setting 11, it’s destructive, distracting, confusing, and enslaving. All this noise noise noise noise!

Several times in the past few months I’ve waved or called out a greeting to a neighbour on the street– nope: glued to the phone, the iPod, the distractor. It got me thinking.

What To Do?

Kenny Chesney is right that our modern West is all about noise, propaganda, selling things, babble, infotainment, endless electronic demands, devices which gobble our time, our days, our hours of rest. The question, after awakening to the racket and noise, is to ask “What else is there, instead?”

Everything else ever anywhere. The all-precious electronics? Turn them off.

Leave it home. Silence the alerts. You don’t actually need to answer that e-mail or  text or to see the funny new kitten video. Tell people when you’d like them to call on the phone, instead of jumping for every call like it’s the police or the lottery.

Unplug. Just go for a walk– you, God, the birds, the breeze, the bugs, the sunshine on the grass.. no disconnecting or dehumanizing smartphone or iPod or shiny thing. Take a nap. Call a friend. Give an ear to someone who could use a good listener. Real things are best: friendship, society, leaving things and people better than you found them.

Make more room in your life for quiet. Read before bed, instead of surfing or chatting or sharing that one last trivial bit of forgettable fluff.

Enquieten your soul, so you can really begin to hear and listen to yourself, and nature, and for the voice of the Lord.. that still small voice which is paved over by the avalanche of modern noise, that needy neighbour or family member or stranger who vanishes behind the distractions.

Not So Easy?

Like any overpowering addiction, it may be painful and take some time to wean yourself away from constant technophilia and hollow ‘connectedness’. Then, try to help your  kids, family, friends, co-workers. Shhhh. Listen.

That is, she’s not a cringing conservative, a rabid bullying Marxist of whatever stripe, or a dead-souled survivor of one-too-many meetings of Time Waster’s International™, University Division. Imagine!

In fact, Professor Fiamengo appears to be an actual professing old-style liberal. Old School Liberal– Believes 1st year kids have skulls full of mush, which must be shaped and formed. Believes in facts, truth, hard work, and the free exercise of the mind and will on learning & mastering a topic. Education, knowledge, wisdom, and degrees are hard-won over years, not handed out like prizes for everyone– and only in real areas of knowledge.

Worthwhile Professing Persons

Someone like Professor Fiamengo represents (like other kick-butt Canucki profs such as Doug Farrow & Dr. Margo Somerville, amongst others) some of the best kind of Canadian scholarship: detailed, insightful, impartial, quietly passionate, and worth hearing and pondering. They are– to the best of my knowledge– unbought, unradical, uncorrected, and serve as educated minds and consciences speaking back from our Western Tradition to the various concerns and controversies of the day.

You know, out loud. In public and stuff. Common sense, even.

Unlike radicalized profs, or the ‘false consensus’ global weather academics, with the best professors & teachers, you don’t feel like you’re listening to the same old script, or hearing only one side of an issue (usually Leftwards), or that a whole dimensions of learning are being deliberately silenced or misrepresented for political or ideological excuses.  You know, college as usual: Brainwashing, only $20K+ a year, thank-you Cha-Chinnng!

Parents, before you send your kid to college, find out what college will give you in return on your investment of life in the kid, and your investment of time and money for a college. You want a smart, educated, work-ready, well-read life-long learner and adult, not a lazy stoned propaganda-spewing basement commie being bitter on social media for the next 10 years.

Parents and prospective students– Does your proposed place of study have an active Women’s Centre? Safe spaces? Gender Studies Program? Black Lives Matters? Lots of radical campus groups? RED ALERT! No world-class or national-class scholars (or scholar-authors), or well-spoken of programs in real studies areas? RED ALERT! Learn the warning signs of SJW-brain-cancer growth places, and avoid them, as you would steer clear of live cancer soup, or a Nazi-decorated university setting.

Colleges? Take the hint from the Mizzou fallout. No more pandering.

In Canada, our new PM is aligned with the Old Liberal-Maurice $trong axis, and so when the international masters of money say jump, he starts jumping, even before asking “How high?” So much for “new leadership”.

Whee! Into The Red!

The world in 2016 is drowning in debt, weak economies, high taxes, and rock-bottom consumer & public confidence. With good reason. And just how bad?

“The bank stocks are now warning investors that it is time to get money and assets out of the banking system.”

Thus, as Europe and Japan and China are financially stricken, leaders and experts are trying to figure out what to do, to keep the house of cards mostly upright– grab private pension funds? Cut back nanny-state goodies? Austerity policies? Invest in infrastructure? Deficit spending? Defaulting on national and international debts? Which way forward?

Or, try evil ideas like NIRPing (Negative Interest Rate Policy, where you directly fund the banks & the state even more = yet another tax); and how about ideas like that floated by the IMF (International Monetary Fund) that, you know, just maybe, everybody could allow a 10% tax on our private savings to pay down government debt? For a start?

The Vampires Bite

You know, because bankrupt banks, corporations, and governments are entirely the fault of tax-payers, right? In Canada, our total tax-burden (taxes, fees, GST, hidden taxes, tax-on-tax) has been estimated to be as high as 70-74%, though officially about 42%.  And even as Liberal-misrun Ontario drowns in debt and NDP-stricken Alberta is shutting up shop, PM Shiny Pony is a fan of big government debt, like his Dad, because spending money we don’t have yet will solve all our problems.. for now.

Glorious leader actually has few options, given that the Canada he has inherited is still deeply debt & deficit ridden; our economy, business, and financial health is lagging; our dollar is shrinking again (partly a vote of non-confidence by the money-markets in Trudeau’s financial acumen). The relative boom-times of the ’60s and the ’80s and ’90s are gone.

Stop Stealing Mah Moneys!

In Japan, the net effect of NIRP? Socks, mattresses, and safes. Banks losing deposits, and quickly. Inflation continues (rising prices hurting the poor most of all), as the taxes rise on the middle class. And did we mention the massive Japanese birth dearth?

Into those socks and safes, and under those matresses go people’s personal savings. So now japan and other nations are having problems with money hoarding of large denominations, hence more printing by national banks of large denomination banknotes (= further shrinking the currency), just as an entree:

Kuroda’s Bank of Japan just went to negative rates in late January, but hasn’t had any effect  on inflation so far. One early effect has been a surge in purchases of home safes as consumers withdraw their money from banks. Kuroda has announced plans to go deeper into negative territory if he feels it is needed.

I’d expect the same hoarding response in any country where people are not brainwashed into the fraud of handing over all “The Government’s Money” to the government, and the ruling banks. Odd how that “little temporary emergency income tax” to fund World War I ended us up here a century later, isn’t it?

People Peopling On

Hence the rise in reasonable tax evasion & avoidance, grey market and black marketeering, yard sales, barter, work for direct cash-in-hand, and other age-old normal human economic activities when things get tough. I can’t blame them.

If your crippling tax rate (as in Canada) is more than you spend on your basic household necessities, is it morally wrong to pay as little tax as you can (which the tax-tyrant governments call ‘avoidance’)? If you have nothing to save at the end of each paycheck after the bills and taxes are paid, how can people have financial security, or a future? If your corrupt provincial government overcharges the public $37 billion in power-rates over 8 years, but refuses to refund or reduce rates, what’s a person to do?

Moar Bureaucratics!

Trust-fund multi-millionaire Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s answer to overburdened Canadians struggling to make ends meet during an extended national and global depression, and critical slow-motion financial emergency? More government, & even more spending, taxes, and tax-collectors!

“In this budget, even before the Panama Papers came out, we had allocated an extra $440 million to the Canada Revenue Agency to ensure they are empowered to go after tax avoidance,” Trudeau said. [ my emphasis ]

This from a comfy weasel-worder who has never been involuntarily cold, hungry, badly dressed, chronically malnourished, bankrupt, or had to constantly worry and pinch pennies just to make ends meet, balance a budget, clip all the coupons, and just go without in some months. I’ve been there, and so have a lot of people. And more will be headed that way in the next decade, as the net effect of the current economics is to erase the middle class, inflate the government class, and profit the richest 1%, as usual.

So what comes next? Here’s the perfect suggestion– I’d invest in safe-making companies, mattress companies, and the sorts of people inventing updated things like this:

“What’s under your mattress? The new DUX 818 luxury bed includes a built-in safety compartment that elevates the practice of hiding money under your mattress, and is one of four new models launched by the 85-year-old Swedish company.”

SO I’M LEARNING (if slowly) that there’s absolutely nobody more smarter than an intertube atheist. Nobody, ever, anywheres.

In Christian circles, there’s such a thing as “preaching to the choir”. In web-infidel circles, the comment sections everywhere are a veritable Echo Chamber of very smug, self-satisfied clevers who have read Same Harris, watched Bill Nye and read some Hitchins and the infamous Dawkins, and don’t you dare try and take them on, lowly fool! Christers and other pathetic defenders of mindless superstition, beware!

Mind you, most of these ‘experts’ are mostly not deeply educated on anything except ‘Atheism/ Agnosticism’, and have no scope of history, philosophy, Biblical knowledge, or interpretation larger than a few books, and several dozen YouTube videos. It’s a puddle, not a lake– let alone an ocean’s depth of true wisdom and education and insight.

This is sad-making, for Binks. As I noted a few posts ago, I like the YouTube channels of self-proclaimed atheists like Sargon Of Akkad— to which I’d add HoneyBadgerRadio, Thunderf00t, Karen Straughan, Vernaculis, Woolly Bumblebee, ShoeOnHead, johntheother, Feminism LOL, and others.

But there’s a dirty secret about most of these ‘open-minded’ characters which I’ll now reveal– despite the fact these cultural libertarian guys & gals are all great in their own ways for smiting the feminist, SJW, and Cry-Bully tribes (their alienated fellow Leftists), they are still very tribal themselves, and generally won’t engage in actual discussion– however friendly & reasonable– with religious believers.. especially the smart and friendly ones with an education.

Nothing. Nada. Silence. Can’t be having none of that. I’ve tried.

How do we tell which god is God? Well you might look at His creation and make some deductions using — science perhaps?Tolerance is not a scientific value. Science allows no forgiveness. Fortunately the weight of scientific evidence currently favors some sort of godlike being. (This has varied through scientific discoveries, so perhaps humans aren’t always right?) The odds of the physical constants of the universe being in the narrow range to support life randomly (even using some sort of evolutionary, “we’re here” algorithm) are astronomically in favor of intelligent design. (Odds aren’t proof of course, but they are a good way to bet.)

Further the odds that the universe is so simple that humans are the ultimate in complex intelligence are slim. It’s just hubris to think we’re the smartest thing out there.

So presuming God exists, what does He want from us, and should we give it to Him? Is tolerance something nice?

If He is in contact, presumably He wants us to follow that religion thing. But perhaps not.

Give it some thought.

If I was the most generous moron in the world and granted there must be a god by simply looking at the creation, that still doesn’t differentiate the God itself. It could have been Odin, Zeus, Allah, or Vishnu, there is no evidence to say which on it is, and that is all assuming that looking around is enough to prove anything, which it isn’t by any standard of logic and reason.

Science is not an conscious entity, so obviously not. And since when are Gods tolerant, the Judaeo-Christian god especially? In regards to forgiveness, why do you need forgiveness? Have you raped someone? Have you murdered someone? If you have you don’t deserve forgiveness and any god that forgives rape or murder doesn’t deserve worship.

There is zero scientific evidence that supports any sort of god, let alone a god invented my humans. Again, even if I’m moronically generous and assume there is a god there is no way to determine which is correct. I challenge you to find one, just one piece of evidence that has gone through the scientific process and given irrefutable proof that a god exists. And if you can manage to do that then do the same thing to prove that your god is the correct god. Until then you have no case.

Odds are not proof of anything. Using them as an argument without any evidence to support your claim damages your own credibility further.

A very interesting article– I used to view Molyneux vids, until that whole bald-faced lying about his wife’s professional troubles thing a while back. Never heard of the new age guru-ette woman before, but have known of similar people & groups in the past. As a convert Christian, this all looks like (a) any messiah but the Real One, and (b) any ‘healing’ of our broken selves except the Eternal One.

Some atheist will then chime in with their faith-statement and say “But ALL religions are false!” but duck and dodge when it comes to examining the logical and evidential status of scientific materialism/ empiricism as a sufficient analysis of all things human and true and good. Of course, longing for a messiah doesn’t mean that there ever was or will be one, or that there is any actual healing for the brokenness, finity, imperfection, and infinite longings of human beings. That should be obvious.

As the Greek philosophers like Aristotle argued [Nicomachean Ethics], such desire may never be satisfied, but at least it indicates that our end (Gk. ‘telos’ =destiny, true fulfillment, goal, final end, completion) lies not in ourselves or any other finite thing, knowledge, or state of being. That’s why Aristotle ends up saying our human goal is to imitate God, the prime mover and the telos of all things, including human beings.

So– misled & misleading people like Swan, or Molyneux, or the New Atheists raise more questions for me than simply “why are they wrong or right?’, but also ‘how are they pointing to the truth, however imperfectly?’– this versus ‘Truth is known only in the empirical’, or ‘See how foolish and irrational these believers in messiahs and salvation are?”

You seem fair-minded, insightful, and reasonable in your approach. Please surprise me by reading and responding to my comment, the latter never happening on other atheist-tribe sites (Sargon, Thunderf00t, Vernaculis, etc.), even when I’m just elaborating on their point, or praising what they said.
