Missing The Target Audience

Look At The Sexist Picture Minus All Penises! Men Are Stupid! And: really? Were NO men involved in making the movie whatsoever? Wonder how this might make them feel…. second class citizens much? Less than? Forgotten? Inferior?

By-the-tropes Gynosupremacism as “propagan-tainment”?.. much classy, so amuse!

Except– most adventure movies were first and foremost for boys, and so were the toys. Boys wanted to be the heroes, and female fans wanted to be rescued by (and later) date/ marry the adventure heroes, or be like the heroines. Millions upon millions of mostly boys collected the original, sequel, and cartoon series toys and gear and all the rest. Big business, and happy kids. Ghostbuster Barbies? Not a big must-have, we’re thinking.

Further, why this big social media fuss? Well– we don’t want to think about the world we live in, but our amusements, entertainments, and shiny pictures are therefore that much more important! You can take away our freedoms, or bomb & shoot us, but don’t screw with our bread and circuses! Yes, that’s exactly where we are. Majoring in the minors, and the micros of mass distraction.

However– when you play this kind of politics? Make sure you get it ALL right, because the SJW-progressive cry-bully club will surely vet and judge you on All The Things– and there’s a lot they don’t like about this attempt to pander to feminism. Grab some hot buttered popcorn, and let’s watch the radicals pitch fits & eat each other alive. What funs!

Go Away, Mens = Equality

The new movie has no identifiable male heroes or ’emulatable’ leading characters. Chris Hemsworth is lame eye-candy– a B-Lister taking on the role originally played by newcomer Annie Potts, now starring a man– because mighty wimmins! Yet what little boy in his right mind is going to work hard to collect the Gynobusters action figures? Psychologically, maturing boys (and even girls) need to gradually separate from their Mommies, to emulate their Dads and other adult & male figures, and individuate as men: not this.

“NO! Bad boys! Wrong!! Women and girls more gooder than you, we are best leaders, tough super heroes, and you should look up to all wimmins!” Which is, in my opinion, psychological and gender-based child-abuse, supremacism, and unscientific propaganda of the very worst and most destructive sort.

Reality Is More Complicated

Women will save the world! Because feminism, and reasons! So rush to see the movie, and cough up for all the inevitable merch and commercial tie-ins, because you betcha feminist Hollywood likes everybody’s dollars– even cootified sexist man-or-boy dollars!

This in spite of the 2016 reality that men and male teens have less job prospects than women, less are attending college, in some cases men are paid less than their female peers, less are even pretending to be interested in dating, possibly leading marriage & kids– and far more likely to murder themselves, on top of it all. In fact, life sucks for almost every young person right now. But don’t ask about any of that, you sexist misogynist oppressor! Stick to the much sads Narrative: [fill in the blank], Women Hardest Hit!

As blogger Woolly Bumblebee said, if Star Wars ‘VII’ and GynoBusters is what results when feminism is allowed to dictate the message, and women are all made into the heroes? Just stop and don’t, because you’re making a mess, stinking up our memories, further trashing masculinity for men and boys, and turning movies into ever more regurgitated mush.

And H-e-E-ere We Go!

There are four parts to detonating this claim.

(1) Equal Pay is NOT the same as Lifetime Earnings.

A woman not earning the same total amount over her whole working life may well be paid the same as a man in an equivalent position– but most women work fewer hours, take weekends, holidays, sick days, and family days off. Not to mention maternity leave, ‘Flex-Time’, and sick kid days. Women’s career-tracks & lifetime hours worked are not identical to their male peers in the same positions.

(2) Shockingly, not all jobs PAY the same.

Further, men and women tend to choose different careers, many of which have differing pay scales. Men often choose higher-paying jobs, push for promotions, raises, and are more ambitious– even if they don’t actually like the career. Not every job is the same, nor do all jobs require the same amount of education, effort, expertise, and specialization.. or hours.

(3) Most people in the same job are USUALLY paid equally.

Looking past the propaganda, in 2016 some women in starting positions will make more than their starting out male counterparts. Paying women 70% as much as men for identical work is illegal in most Western countries, and– if it were legal– would mean men couldn’t get many jobs, with women as a discount work-force.

But the biggest factor, all other things (and pay) being equal?

(4) Men actually tend to WORK LONGER hours.

One Australian work-study found men worked on average 8.5 hours more than women, per week.* Just a couple of hours a day, and the odd Saturday. Other studies pegged the weekly overtime at about 5.5 hours for men.

So what? Hold onto your hats.. this ‘work longer’ thing is like the exploding value of compound interest. And remember– Binks has Math Dyslexia (on top of a little of the usual kind), so the following is trebly impressive.

By The Numbers

8.5 overtime hours a week. That’s a whopping 10.5 weeks, or 442+ hours of male overtime work per year (or 55.2 x 8 hour overtime workdays/ year).

Such overtime over 10 years? 4420+ hours over a decade (552 x 8 hour overtime workdays/ decade). That’s a crap-ton of overtime– an extra year and a half overtime over a decade (presuming 364 day work-years).

Over a career? The average man will work 17680+ overtime hours, or a full 2210 overtime workdays over 40 years (that’s 6.07 full YEARS— with no weekends or vaycays– of overtime @ 8 hours a day).

The overtime is on top of the 40 hours weekly for 40 years, whatever that is.. lessee.. 2080 regular work-hours/ year, 20800 hours per decade, and 83200 working hours in 40 years.. + the 17680+ overtime = the average man works 100880 total hours (regular + overtime) in a career, versus women working 83200 total hours in a career). Ruh-roh!….

Cheer Up, It Gets Worse!

All of this does not include the hours of unpaid overtime that many modern employers are squeezing out of some employees; nor the hideous job-markets and increase in shrunken work hours ‘part-time’ positions with no benefits, pension, or time off. Oh yes, it’s a paradise out there.

Could be much worse.. as one person has commented:

“Look at Japan and the “salaryman” attitude. At work 7 days a week for well over 12hrs a day, usually back around midnight, maybe half of Sunday to see your kids, 2 weeks holiday a year but if you ever took them you would be fired.”

Free & Simple Answers

What is to be done? The present situation cannot continue! Justice! Equalism!

When it comes to winning equal earnings for men and women, no matter what choices or factors or circumstances, the answers are clear. We must obey the feminist logic that men and women must earn exactly the same in their lifetimes of working (presuming we don’t pay the same wages for a paperboy as a brain surgeon).

First of all, in the name of true equality, all women must be forced to work as many regular and overtime hours as men do, and in identical kinds of jobs. No more family time or maternity-leave with that 8.5 hours of overtime a week on top of the usual 40: whiny sick kids must look after themselves.

Nextly, all women will be required by law to take years and years of extra education & special training for more high pressure & higher paying jobs (plus, be forced to take up more dangerous and physically risky careers, to help equally bear the burden of the 90%+ of workplace fatalities happening to men). There’s simply no choice in the matter, I’m afraid.

All must be sacrificed unto mammon, so true earnings-equality can be attained! Men and women must work the same way in the same fields for the same amount of time and thus earn the same! This little moment in the culture wars may seem like a blip on the radar, but I think it fits in with #GamerGate, Fab Milo-ism, and a wider tide, part of a successful push-back towards reality and consequences. This is an important thing.

Free-speechers are fighting totalitarianism, silencing, and the resulting speech & thought control of the elites & the media, and the SJW megaphonies and cry bullies. A lot of people are quietly watching and cheering, and I’m guessing those who are with us are far more than those who are against us. Pushback!

The study in question was a squishy soft-science informal survey of students in 2007. Here’s the study itself. From the look of the thing, a real statistician would have a field-day in such a target-rich environment of muddy social science.

The authors even admit an unrepresentative, small, & anonymous survey, lumping together different kinds of assaults, ranging from being grabbed or touched, all the way to full rape; and there are other serious questions about the applicability, and claims made in the study.

“The researchers made clear that the study consisted of students from just two universities…. The CSA study was actually an online survey that took 15 minutes to complete, and the 5,446 undergraduate women who participated were provided a $10 Amazon gift card. Men participated too, but their answers weren’t included in the one-in-five statistic.”

Okily-dokily: 15 minutes. Online. No names. No details, or fact-checking, or comparing apples to apples, or verification that the claims were true, or that the interpretation of the events was fair. Plus, you get an Amazon card?

There’s your infamous 1 in 5– widely derided by Milo Yiannopoulos and other online pundits, in light of a 2013 Department of Justice report that puts the number closer to 6 or 7 in 1000, not 25 in 100. Or again,

“Bureau of Justice Statistics data indicate that in 2012 the rate of rapes and sexual assaults was 1.3 per 1,000 Americans ages 12 and up.”

The older dating and relationship and marriage rules were there for a reason, the accumulated wisdom of many generations to try and prevent stupid, fatherless babies, abortions, broken hearts, and exploitation. We have a generation of frantic, broken, hurting, hurtful, uncertain, angry kids– and society makes the kids it deserves. Point fingers, and remember to point at all of us, too.

Still UnAnswered

Fact is, the various real studies peg the number of rapes/ sexual assaults on campus as slightly lower than in general society. However, with the hooking up culture, the drug and booze culture, and the feminist absolution of all women from responsibility for their bad choices, it’s hard to know (a) what the facts actually are, and (2) what is being covered up or hidden by women (and men) for whatever reasons, and (iii) Why such things may be happening, and (d) What to do about said problems.

One thing I know? More polarization, feminist claptrap & shaky stats, screaming & threats & no-platforming is a fever symptom, nor anything like a cure. But some people just want to watch the world burn.

Keep laughing, fact-checking, and standing firm against the tide of political and popular manure which now passes for ‘Progressivism’ and ‘Social Justice Warriorism’. There are not a few lost, sad, broken & odd people clustered under the SJW-pity party umbrella. I feel sad for them, for they have lost they know not what, in exchange for easy propaganda and screaming. Still, these are alleged adult alleged university kids.

That old academic idea that you study & ponder and listen first, second, and third, and only then (and very humbly) come up with some thoughts or words or ideas? Lost on them. Modern undiversity rewards insta-blab, BrainingLite, endless outrage and offendedness, and “Talk First (and loudly), Brain Later (if ever), cuz actual thought is a tool of the oppressors! This often devolves into #@%!$&*! and schoolyard-style name-calling, now with added threats and shoving, before you know it.

See, if I thought Milo was evil incarnate, I’d read up & learn up on his arguments and articles, write down some questions, criticism, and serious problems I saw, and go at it during the question & answer, on a blog, in e-mails, or in discussion. Not as fun, but much more effective, IF your goal is to actually learn, practice critical thinking, and (just imagine) actually convince Milo on a point or two to change his mind, or elaborate and correct his ideas.

Is This True (or False)? (this takes reason, and patience)

Then, another big question: How Do I Know This Is True (or False)? (This takes research)

And if you’ve gotten that far, then:

What is Right And Wrong (Or Uncertain) About This idea/ argument/ position? (This takes the ability to objectively think outside a position– or on both sides– so you can coolly figure the good & bad of a particular argument, claim, or asserted truth).

The good news here?– if you can properly do this last step, you’re 5 times further ahead than someone who only understands (or misunderstand) one side of the argument.

Truth.. Just Is, Man

It’s a sad mess: and Rutgers is only one of many such semi-insane schools throughout North America, which have forbidden the search for truth.

Truth does not depend on a majority or minority vote; it has no colour, race, political stance, or creed; it does not have a best-before-date; professors or teachers or writers may or may not be actually interested in it; radical mass movements tend to discourage thought, introspection, seeking truth, or being fair to the opposition.

A few warnings on truthing gooder:

• Repeating something often enough does not automatically make it true, or untrue.
• Because a book or prof or politician said something does not magically make it true, or untrue.
• Truth is true, whether you like it or not.
• The popularity of an idea does not somehow make it true, or untrue.
• Real learning is very hard work.
• Your grasp of the truth is necessarily imperfect. Be humble, but defend what truth you know & have, until you learn otherwise.
• The pooling of ignorance in search of truth does not guarantee you or your committee will ever find any.
• Ignorance– especially deliberate bad learning, or dumbing yourself because ideology– can lead to mindless and unpleasant behaviour.
• The truth is often risky, unpopular with the cool kids, hard to live with, and you bear responsibility for what you know, and for passing it on.
• To know that you know nothing, or very little, is the beginning of learning, as Socrates taught.

I hope these collij kids– like the one in the vid above– one day wake up and realize who they are, what they’ve become, and how very very little they really know or understand. I hope.

The latest tactic for the younger generation of radicals is something called ‘No Platforming‘– or, raising a stink about someone, no matter how, to get them banned from a public event, discussion panel, or convention, and reported to various authorities.

This ideological civil strife has broken out into several recent public disputes and events in the UK & US, including atheist star Richard Dawkins, aging English gay activist Peter Tatchell, feminist icon Germaine Greer, 80’s feminist Julie Bindel, and young gay-con Milo Yiannopolous, just to mention a few thought-criminals against lock-step campus progressivism.

In some cases, aging radicals dislike the fact that their uppance has come, that the radical forces they helped unleash are now biting them in the hindquarters. Hilarity ensues.

Julie Bindel is one such cheerful sower of dragon’s teeth. She has actually proposed “concentration camps for all men, a group she doesn’t actually even regard as human.” Further, as the headline below proves, she doesn’t even understand what the no-platforming monster is all about in 2016. It’s hard being stuck in the 1980s.

No-platforming was originally an anti-fascist tactic, but has mutated into a form of campus censorship, and silencing of free speech– now against many of their own ideological allies and elders, no less, as well as their peers, professors, and other victims. And so it spreads like an anti-intellectual fungal infection into society from there.

Yes, this is actually a thing, and– ironically and sadly– it’s arising in England, the home of free speech, parliamentary democracy, and hard-won liberty under law. Magna Carta? Didn’t learn about that in my Afro-Concentric trans-lesbian basket-weaving course, so it can’t be all that important, can it?

We’ve created a noisy minority within the current generation of university students. They literally believe that offending anybody in any way is utterly unacceptable– unless you’re off-message, non-progressive, or one of those icky oppressive hook-nosed Jewishes.

No remorse, no regret, no mercy, no logic, no care for those whom they silence or crush, victory at any cost, human or otherwise. And it’s spread to universities near you. In one burst of irony-free activism, a student  called for the merely potentially offensive London School of Economics free-speech society to be banned— amounting to freedom from speech. Can’t be too careful.

Such political correctness has been around for decades, and petty campus bullies and idiots  and petty tyrants are nothing new– I used to encounter them all the time. Fast-forward to 2016, and now the social media megaphone has gotten them more attention and money, made them more bold, and enforced their cry-bully outrage and ideology. And they are much more busy & dangerous.

The Laughability

Monty Python member, actor and author John Cleese wisely warns: “If you start to say ‘We mustn’t, we mustn’t criticize or offend them’, then humor is gone. With humor goes a sense of proportion. And then as far as I’m concerned you’re living in 1984….” (Real Time with Bill Maher: John Cleese on Political Incorrectness (HBO).

As part of our fact-based strategy to push-back against the campus neo-fascists, we must also use humour, mockery, strident criticism and an utter refusal to apologize or seek approval from the cry-bully social justice warrior mob. Take no prisoners– pray for them, love them, speak to them.. and laugh at them.

With a sense of rebellious and fun-living mischief, humour can keep us sane, humble, thick-skinned, and prevents our becoming monsters-– those boring, unsmiling, grumbling, prowling, bellowing & howling perpetually offended zombies for The Cause.

Attention-seeking is a complex thing. What happens when you mix toxic ideology with deeply damaged or nasty people?

Doubting The Doubters

Me Spong! You Bigot! No awkward questions, please.

An Anglican philosopher friend of mine once took on the notoriously attention-seeking (but question avoiding) controversialist Bishop and writer John “Look At Meee” Spong. The crowd were mostly Spong-devotees, but my friend took his shot.

My friend said:

(1) You (Spong) assert that much of religion (& Christianity in particular) is actually a Freudian-style projection of father-issues into universal truth claims about God. (My Dad In The Sky).

(2) So your (Spong’s) view of God is essentially a projection of your (Spong’s) own interior father-issues (Spong had a bad relationship with his father, he reports) into universal truth-claims about God.

(3) Therefore: if you’re right, why should anyone believe what you (Spong) claim to be true or not true about God & religion, if it’s all ‘actually’ about your projected personal fatherhood issues, and not truth claims about what is actually real and true? Why should anybody care about that?

Spong’s religion = how he feels about his dead Dad. Right up there with his opinions on knitting, and eggrolls.

Wait for it. Booooooooooooooooooom.

In that flash of simple logic, my friend demolished mitred narcissist Spong’s clever 50-year schtick of ‘trust me’ doubting, deconstruction, and the flawed thinking behind his ‘because Freud’ agnosticism.

Then It Got Really Weird

What happened next? Nothing sensible.

Bp. Spong wiffled, waffled, and then attacked (as usual). My gregarious & thoughtful friend was ‘judgmental’ and ‘narrow-minded’ and unpleasant and ‘fundamentalist’. That is, Spong The Famous Doubter could not– or would not– answer reasonable questions doubting Spong’s own doubt. Question ME? Name-calling, you bigot!

Here’s where it gets.. even weirder.

During a break after question-time, a Spongite woman came up to my friend, asking him to back off, and ‘be nicer’ to Spong, because he was a deeply damaged man, who spoke on behalf of so many other damaged people. Er, what-now?

Or, “Please lay off on the facts & logic and truth stuff, or any holding our hero accountable for his wreckifying via ideas, lectures, words, debates, books, ‘sermons’, TV appearances, and wealth & fame as a very public doubter and agnostic about Christianity, because.. feelings!” Leave Crazy Spong Alo-o-o-one!, cry the other crazy people.

How Very 21st Century

Public personas are just that: a public face-mask presented to the world. Anything can be behind the mask. What about the human toothaches, who enjoy making trouble? The deeply troubled but obnoxious, who are banging around injuring people and screeching about causes? Or the criminal, presenting themselves as heroes, whilst hiding dark secrets?

Even when we present questions, arguments, fact-checking and real data to the debate, we may be just scratching the surface of what’s going on.

Breitbart writer Milo Yiannopoulos wonders just how many troublesome ‘radical’ attention-seeking public figures on the Left are not simply voices for some progressive position, but underneath may be deeply damaged, malignant narcissists, drama-seekers, or hurting/ hurtful people flailing about injuring innocent people and breaking things, under the guise of activism, feminism, social justice, or whatever other excuse for being sad, bad, or bat-spit mad. Recently, internets feminist saint Anita Sarkeesian told her supporters (US$170K on Kickstarter, another US$700K from various other sources 2014-present) that all her Feminist Frequency work is just too much (3 hours & 40 minutes of video, and related research, plus some articles, including her latest civilization-saving YouTube vid on, um, “Strategic Butt Coverings“). Pixel-bums. Not joking.

Mz. Anita’s easing back because– note this– she now tells us she’s suffered a life-long battle with depression & now burnout, plus some mean critics & anti-feminists on the internets are making her feel bad. But no refunds.

Who said what-now?! Some ‘social justice’ progressives even turn out to be stalkers, male and female rapists, pedophiles, sociopaths, fraud artists and scammers, petty criminals, or compulsive liars, perhaps punishing others and society because malice, issues, or injuries in their lives. Not good.

Or, are you a well-connected and vengeful feminist bully (name rhymes with ‘Stephanie Guthrie’) who thinks they have a right to silence and lie about lowly non-feminist male scum who dare disagree via Twitter? Why not persecute him online, then drag Gregory Alan Elliott to court for three long years of frivilous misery, where the ‘due process’ is the bankrupting punishment? That’s here in Trudeau’s NeoCanada, but thankfully she lost (until the inevitable weepy legal appeal). This damaged chick should pay all his court costs, and for wasting taxpayer’s time & money. Ms. Guthrie can never give back his lost years. Nope, no issues or ideology there!

Utopian Ideology + deep personal problems = The Patriarchy is out to get me! I was Twitter-raped! They’re trying to kill me! All men are evil! Believe everything I say, or else! I’m being triggered! Intersectional micro-aggressions! Silence my critics! I have internet PTSD!! Kill all men! Help me, love me, cuddle me, give me a blankie and a teddy-bear, cuz I’m scared and sad and bad and lonely!!

It can get awfully ugly, when egotism, disease, disorder, evil, malice, and guilt is running the show.

Physician, Heal Thyself?

OK: Whoa now– first things first. This is not about dogpiling anyone. These people are people, and some of them really need help, or to get offline, and to shut up until they are better.

It’s simple, but not easy. Be healed if you would heal. Turn to God, and be made new.

This is at least part of what Jesus was teaching when he warned about being hastily judgmental (St. Luke 6:41-42). He was not in fact against judging– i.e., assessing something or someone correctly, in order to rebuke and/ or help them.

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”

Blinded by a huge plank, O sinful bossy hypocrite? Then don’t rush into performing expert eye-surgery on others. Or: got am aster-plan to fix all the things, SJW? How about starting the fix-up with yourself, first?

If we are moved by love and mercy, and a desire to save & heal– and if we have seen, repented of, and confessed our sins & bad attitudes and mistaken ideas– then we have de-planked our own eye, stepped out of hypocrisy and blinding sin and harsh judgement, and become someone able to help others with their specks. We’re not moved by proving how wise and awesome and self-important we are, but by a healing which we humbly wish to share.

The Zombie Way

On the other hand, feeding off our badness and miseries to make others miserable and bad, is a destructive zombie-life. So is choosing to become creepy and more troubled, revelling in our depression, anxiety, sins, and hurts, and living a double life of public righteousness and ranting, and inward evil and sorrow. Why heal up from that broken leg? Keep limping along, and hit it with a hammer once in a while– and hey! Why not break other people’s legs with a hammer, too? Then, find all sorts of people to blame for it, make some videos and get a loyal following, then see if you can raise a hundred thousand bucks on Patreon in sympathy?

Not for this elf. Don’t listen to SJW celebrities– or anyone for that matter– without wondering who they really are, what motivates them, and what kind of fruit they bear in the public square and their personal lives. ~
