Where Jihadist murderers get sympathy; where former children advocate childlessness; where new media reports truth as opinion, and one-sided opinion as truth; where ‘human rights’ means muzzling some people and not others; where the most bigoted slander others as bigots; where capitalism means eating the poor, and socialism means feeding the poor with false promises; where too many schools teach fad and fakery and sleight-of-hand, instead of passing on the heaped-up treasures and wisdom of the ages; where Christians and Jews and people of peace are reviled, and the revilers therefore imagine themselves wise and good; where the weasel-tongued use words to not say what they mean or mean what they say; where all the categories of good and true and better things are overthrown, and the small-minded and small-spirited worldly dictators with their smelly little orthodoxies would give us rubbish and smoke and staleness instead.

To Hell with Upsidedownistan. Of the early Christians it was said that they turned the world upside down. Whether we have faith yet or not, let us all live as those who would overturn the lies and upside-down logic of our would-be masters. Let us set things to rights, and learn that we’ve been living on our heads, walking on our hands, and dancing a beguiling but dishonest tune. Not to be a new band of rebels, asserting our own confusions in place of other confusions, but as humble students of truth, goodness, and love.

I’ve been reading a great book which is something of a clarion-call, and which winds together much of the reading I’ve been doing over the past year and more: The Iliad, The Odyssey, The Aeneid, Cochrane’s Christianity and Classical Culture, and other bits and pieces. It’s Anthony Esolen’s excellent must-read The Politically Incorrect Guide to Western Civilization (of the fine Politically Incorrect Guides series).

Go. Buy it. Several copies.

Read it to your kids, before the serious brainwashing and Western Civ hate sets in. Learn what’s yours, the people who are trying to make us all forget what’s ours, and replace it with MultiCulti pro-soft tyranny and sheep-think.
