~ TOMORROW is the Feast of the Annunciation (and 9 months before Christmas), when the archangel Gabriel was sent to a young woman of Nazareth to ask if she would be willing to let God bless her with the Incarnation of the Word, Jesus Christ the Son of God.
However, Saint Gabriel also shows up in the Book of Daniel [ 9:20-27 ], where he tells the prophet about what God is going to do (send the Anointed Messiah Christ), and how long until that happens.
This does not mean “See? You can’t do anything about anything, because God predetermines it!” The divine plan proceeds by His providence, and you can be part of His work by grace & faithful obedience, or by fighting the plan and being part of the works of darkness.
The details revealed to Daniel by Saint Gabriel also illustrate why the Jews after Daniel and in the times leading up to the New Testament (such as Simeon & Anna in the Temple, in St. Luke’s Gospel) were fully expecting and looking for the promised Messiah to come when God had promised unto Daniel.
