~ THE BIGGEST LIE of all the Big Lies is the radical progressive skill of denial, blame-shifting and rewriting history to always feature themselves as the good guys. Always. Pro-Slavery anti-civil rights Democrats? That racist Goldwater! FDR? liberal balls-up, rewritten as rescue; Hitler & Mussolini? Not socialist/ communist heretics, but crypto-Republicans. Hollywood black-list? Liberal commies, later re-written as heroes. The neo-fascist 60’s revolution? Peace, love, flowers! The 1990s-2000s Lib-caused mortgage crisis? Eeeevil Wall Street! Liberal legislators to the rescue!
And it continues almost daily with the Obama retruthing machine, and a Blamocratic congress in full fairy-tale mode.
What’s for it? Conservatives must learn and insist on history, facts, and details. It’s part laziness, party timidity, part reflexive politeness and good manners not to point out that other people are bald-face retroactive liar liar pants on fire. We need to get over the good manners, the slack sleepiness, and relearn history right-side up– even when the conservatives were actually at fault, or asleep at the wheel. Let’s recall that it it was the British Tory Prime Ministers Baldwin and Chamberlain who led Europe along appeasement lane.
Read Jonah Goldberg’s Liberal Fascism. Re-learn the history of the 20th century, stolen from most of us in High School and University, let alone the media and elite talking-points. Read the useful intro ‘Politically Incorrect Guide‘* series, and the books they quote from and recommend. Pass on the info, the books, and use the facts you learn in letters to the ed, public meetings, blog comments, or wherever. Be prepared for hostility and incredulity– nobody likes feeling they’ve been duped by big lies in a long dancing-line.

~ OBAMA is– essentially– a high-school jock cool-kid. Alpha-male head of the clique. If you’re his friend, you rate, you socially exist, you’re cool– if not? Obama does not act like a man almost 50 years old, nor entirely as an adult. He wants what he wants, now. Teen impulsiveness, knowitallism, infinite confidence, and consequence-free. Obama is 17, and America? Why, it’s his high-school. ~
– ITEM – Jonah Goldberg thought it would be an interesting plot for a novel would be the repercussion if there was a nuclear strike and a liberal president refused to retaliate. My guess on what would happen is that Obama would eventually find himself tied to a nuclear missile heading for the enemy
~ WHILE THE WEST SLEEPS, the world watches. Bad guys have to be media-savvy, and attentive to their enemies. Only the powerful can be negligent, unserious, appeasement-y, and horribly unkind to real people on the ground. You know, waving pieces of paper in the air while nations and people are enslaved and ruined by evil, as with Austria, Czechoslovakia, and then all that followed. Good men could have stopped Hitler cold at any point up until 1938– instead, 5 years and world peace and a hundred million+ lives later, World War 2 ended, and we are still feel the aftershocks of that event.
Europe has turned inwards, and cowardly. Canada has spoken up boldly on some good things recently, but Iggy is a few percentage points from re-installing Trudeaupia. Obama is already trying to kill Israel, appease terror, surrender Pakistan, and generally making sure that being liked is the height of his foreign policy.
It’s Munich all over again, with the Jews under fire and increasing oppression everywhere; very few principled men and women on deck willing to speak up and act like adults; and an ever-growing group of bad people with nukes and evil ideas willing to set fire to Little Satan Israel, and to however much of the Great Satan America need to be burnt to finally cow America back into a handy-dandy isolationism, to let the animals run the zoo.
As far as Jonah Goldberg’s suggestion about a nuking of America novel, I’m still not convinced that Tom Clancy novels didn’t inspire Al Qaeda in their ideas of flying planes into U.S. buildings as flying bombs. ~

~ JUST WATCHING the start of Xena: Warrior Princess, Season 5 (Fallen Angel, 5.1, written by R.J. Stewart)– the theology is much better than many sermons, though muddled up with the usual modern smörgåsbord of extra bits– but there’s God and Satan, a Jesus of sorts, heaven, hell, angels, demons, good, evil, resurrection vs. eternal death. Like much of the Lord of the Rings as interpreted by Peter Jackson, the story is better than the current interpreters of it, and even bits of goodness are pointers to higher goodness, the fullness of truth, and eternal love. Even the dancing angels look like those wonderful pictures from the Divine Comedy, with the great circles of angels.
What’s interesting is that the Xena universe– like the pagan universe– turns out to bigger and more complicated that the classical Greek afterlife and spiritual universe– it’s often the case in contemporary Hollywood ‘spiritual flicks’ that the feel-good clouds & unicorns thing breaks through to something a little more real. Take Robin Williams in the movie “What Dreams May Come“: he goes through the guru-type fun-park afterlife thing, but must descend into a Dante-esque hell to rescue his wife. Or again in 1998’s ‘Charmed‘, where we get the usual ‘Bewitched’-style cheery witchcraft as fun and harmless.. but then something else and very bad possesses one of the main characters. Hmmmm.
Despite our desire to keep it sinless, simple, and harmless, our spiritual instincts know there is (or could be, or should be, or used to be) more.. even if we twist that deeper awareness into shallow salvations through recycling, Jihad, or communitarianism. ~
