~ HISTORY, RIGHT NOW– Of course, this blogger is very concerned how the story of Transformers 2 works out in the end. Not to mention all the other Summer blockbusters. Big doings, right? Except– I also watch history and real-world stuff– and I’m getting the feeling that something far more dramatic, earth-shaking, and historic is underway in Iran right now. Like the Solidarity protests in Poland big. Consequences all over the place.

Remember– the Ayatollah and his successors invented Hizbollah, partly run Lebanon, Syria, and Paleostine, and are close to their own nukes. That’s aside from working hand in glove with the NORKS, the Chinese, and lots of other badness worldwide.

This is like Nazi Germany circa 1939 rising up in mass protests against Der Fuhrer and his war-lust, and demanding a better way, before the real blood-letting kicks in.

Even the American mass-media is starting to realize this isn’t the usual staged-for-our-benefit protest with the usual signs and media staging– in this case, journalists are being arrested: this is not meant to be seen. However, the protesters know that the world is watching: we are the third partner in this conflict– they are counting on us to stand by, support, keep the frequencies open, and understand their aspirations. If we turn aside, we’re failing them, and a increased likelihood for world peace.

Iran? Land of the Magi, a.k.a. the Wise Men of the Bible, with the gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Important to God, and the Bible, and to us today.

Read the NROTC material in particular (many and big brains over there), pray, watch, and understand the agonies of an ancient people under the brutalizing reign of the mullahs, seeking their freedom, and a better way.

This is not a Democrat/ Republican thing, or even left/ right– it’s a human thing, and pure historic goodness happening before the eyes of the world, online, and to the future of the world. Once again, the web leads the way. Oh, and by the way– Leftists? if you’re not on board with this cry for freedom, you’re failing Humanity 101, pure and simple, and nobody should ever listen to anything you say ever again.

Let’s hope the better guys win out over the Hitlerian mini-me Ahminajihad and his Mullah bosses, so a little more sanity can kick in when it comes to the Middle East.

Why now? Because sensible Iranians don’t want Israeli mushroom clouds rising over Tehran, Tabriz, Isfahan, and other major Iranaian centres, after Mini-Me nukes Tel Aviv and a few other spots, as promised. After all, a nuke-Jihadsm is an inhuman ideology no different thatn Communism and Nazism, andjust like them, will fight to the last drop of other people’s blood for the sake of a hateful theory. ~

~ IT’S THE LITTLE THINGS… in this case, a fly, that has somehow got people paying attention to Obama. That’s all very well, but one wishes he were much less skilled in fly-killing– “That was pretty impressive” he remarked of himself– and as good as he obviously thinks he is at presidenting. Say, in not ruling the American economy, or essentially standing by while an awful lot of Iranians beg for freedom.

But as I watched the vid, I saw Obama’s almost expressionless face, then ‘snap’, the fly was dead. I realized that this is a metaphor: so the POTUS handles red tape, laws, the U.S. Constitution, opponents, friends, whatever. Or, say, going out in public for ice cream while Iranians bleed and die in the streets. There’s a disconnect, a robotiveness there, not connected entirely with reality. Maybe he’s an alien plant.

Mr. Obama might call it ‘expediency’; admire himself as a do-something guy who gets the trains running on time and suchlike– but that won’t do. The difference between a dictator and a ruler, is that the latter rules by the rules– that received body of law, custom, inherited experience, horrible mistakes learnt from– all of civilization history, justice, law, faith, the whole thing– and not by personal fiat, and in a lawless and summary manner.

President Obama has shown utter contempt for law and due process with his attitude towards corporate law, companies, the Constitution, individual rights, due presidential authority within the American system. He has his excuses, of course– just like he brushed off the leaders of France and Germany due to his almighty schedule– but they are not decent reasons, nor will they stand the test of history.

I hope Obama will reform, get sensible, and become a good or even a great president: however, his fundamental narcissism and real-world inexperience and lack of judgement make it rather unlikely. He’s been groomed, bought, and put in place to be revolting– to lead the revolution which his friends, mentors, and favourite books have told him is the only hope for America and mankind.

That’s why the odd, disjointed responses to anything outside the master-plan: the world’s supposed to stay the same while the Great Leader– a veritable Neitzschian Superman, reshaping the world and lesser mortals by the power of his all-powerful will– moves the pawns around into the pleasing and pre-ordained patterns. ~

~ I WAS NOT as who should say a model student in my early teens. More along the “Most Likely To Be A Delinquent” line. I wasn’t the most often at the Principal’s Office, but close runner-up.

So while in my kid’s school the other day, I walked over to what I thought was one of those “Nothing Is Impossible If You Believe In YourSelf And Your Dreams” posters which is the stock-in-trade of the wonderful line of Despair.com line of rebuttals.

Not so much.

Instead, it was a piece of PFLAG propaganda. Not with the usual provincial or federal stamp on it– just straight from a militant gay activist group, ‘Parents & Friends of Gays & Lesbians’ (apparently the rest of the sexually puzzled aphabet hasn’t got on their name-brand yet).

Was I asked if I wanted my kids exposed to gay propaganda in their school, paid for by the taxes of local folks? Of course not. Were we told that this would be the case? Ditto. Plus, the recent provincial ‘lifestyle’ curriculum is all about condoms, various kinds of sex, and delightful ethical questions (to combine a few) “If Juan has been having sex with an IV drug user, should his AIDS-infected boyfriend and non-AIDs infected girlfriend be concerned about exposure to Hepatitis?” Nothing like practical tips for daily living from the R-rated downtown back-alley set, wot?

So, standing there in the hallway, something snapped. The old teen me arose, quickly checked the hallway, and removed the offending propaganda. It’s in my car.

Such posters, after all, are the tip of the big stick. PFLAG US was in the nasty Prop 8 fight and aftermath; they militantly advocate over parent’s wishes across North America for radical books and curricula in schools. It’s the rainbow jackboot, in respectable form. Goebbels would be proud of the propaganda strategy, if not the content. Alinksy ain’t it.

I have gay friends. I’ve counselled gay people. It’s not about hate, or safe schools or violence. The politics of the politically correct and politically charged same-sex blitzkrieg are not open for rational discussion, serious parental input, or disagreement. A couple of years ago when the ‘Lifestyle Curriculum’ I mention above was brought out into the open, a lot of parents spontaneously showed up at PTA and school-board meetings to remind educators that these are OUR children, after all. The response of the ‘conservative’ government? The discussion of the curriculum was shelved. They did a little window dressing and PR, and sat around hoping the furore went away. It did: but not the concern.

Radicalizing the populace through the school-system is very dirty politics, but typical progressive/ utopian tactics. You want your poster back? Well then, lets have that curriculum discussion out in the open, where parents get to vote. No? Thought not. You’re not really into democracy, freedom, free speech, truth-telling, and letting others have a say– and that’s the truth behind that little harmless poster posted in my local public building, full of our local children.

Piss off, PFLAG, says this father, taxpayer, and free-speeching Canadian. Long ago, my teenaged self decided not to be a barbarian, doing whatever I wanted, others be darned. Your nicer version of that doesn’t fool me. Been there, done that. ~

After all, an international crisis may require round-the clock discussion, taking counsel, consulting experts and the like– or the appearance of same. Being President is simply not the same as working in an office, where after the paperwork and your 60 hour week, you may be able to sign off for a little weekend family-time.

Dear Obama– you must look like the hardest working man in the world. That’s why all your predecessors aged twice as fast as everyone else: it’s a sacrifice of yourself in exchange for the greatest power and responsibility on the planet.

~ TARGET: Fatherhood. As some progressive or other remarked back in the day, the big goal was to make a son as unlike his father as possible. After all, feminist-matriarchal myth-making aside, fathers are one of the foundation-chunks of civilization itself, down to the family in a home. Fatherlessness is a plague with untold consequences and miseries following in its’ wake, as countless studies have demonstrated. I ask the kids (big TV-watchers) when and if they see any exemplary fathers or men on TV. Not so much.

We’re in the midst of endless hateful social engineering seeking to undercut and replace fathers in general and male in particular.

In the end, it’s all about fighting with THE Father. God the Father, maker of heaven and earth. His rule, his will, his Kingdom, his love and purpose. After all, these days we’re told that all human family and roles are social constructions, amenable to engineering and fiddling according to the powers of the experts. But what it– just if– it’s the other way around, and our earthly institutions are the reflections of a transcendent order which we express in our moral and social ordering.

That’s certainly the Judeo-Christian model– as St. Paul says in Ephesians 3:15, “For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named”– it’s a right-side up thing.

To those who will then bring up abusive, negligent, or deadbeat dads, that’s the dark side– the absence of a great and necessary good, for which Our Heavenly Father is also the answer, since he is faithfulness, love, and wills all good for his children. Earthly fatherhood is– and should be– an image of The Father.

No wonder then that utopians, dictators, social engineers, feminists, and other progressive sorts would have us erase fatherhood and deface the image of The Father, so we might be orphans at their ever-shifting mercy and whims.

Man up. Father up. Use the moral balls God gave you to lead, guide, build, encourage, and stand tough. It’s you, or somebody else will remove your balls, put you in your place, and lead society, your family, schools, and civilization in all sorts of wretched directions. Let’s take it back, guys, and make fatherhood cool again: we will be hissed at and attacked, but so be it.

Support and thank fathers and grandfathers– hold them accountable, and demand the best. This is part of the free-speeching, truth-telling, courageous, kind, and persistent spirit that is part of the battle for the heart of our civilization raging around us in so many ways. Thanks to those deputy fathers like Mark Steyn and Ezra Levant, caring for us all and seeking to fight for the right beside us, and on our behalf.

Happy Father’s Day to my Dad, and in remembrance of George and Willie, my Grandfathers, and to all those who have in ways big and small, fathered me into manhood, which I now strive to pass on to my own two boys, the Lord willing, and my dear wife helping.  As Protein Wisdom puts it,

“To dads and stepdads and to grandpas and uncles stepping into the dad role, your dedication, commitment and sense of duty towards the great responsibility of fathering a child in the face of a contemporary culture that disdains your role is worthy of more than just one day of honor.”
